The headers also hit off the shock towers and took some denting of the car to get the headers to fit.

It appears it's worth it to just spend the extra bucks on a quality set, as those are obviously a very cheap China job.
If you go on LS1tech there are several people who are happy with ebay headers. There are several different kinds, do your hw and get the fake pacesetter ones.

the thing about the stainless thought... they carry alot more heat.... and will make your engine compartment alot warmer.. if you dont mind the heat.. then yeah i would do with the stainless as well.. they look better anyway..lol

if alot of that 4K miles was enduring salt id be surprised if they lasted that long. I would never run longtubes on a car that i had to drive in the winter, unless they were stainless. The collectors catch all kinds of hell hanging beneath the car. Ive got some surface rust on mine from the AC condensor dripping on them once. And theres no salt with that. Its nothing to do with product quality IMO. 1200 degrees plus moisture equals corrosion, its common sense. My pacesetters are in perfect shape only because ive kept them dry. You can try sending them back but the rust is probably going to tell them the story when the collectors are wasted and the upper primaries are probably still in decent shape.

          i just found that today.

The majority of them are 1.5" primaries, which is garbage. I'd never put that on my car. The more expensive sets (slightly more) claim to be 1.8". I'm considering those at the moment.

I do have to disagree about have to modify for EVERY set of headers. You shouldn't have to modify the frame of your car to fit headers. I have installed long tubes and mid length and while they were a tight fit to get in, no modification was necessary for the header or car.

Consider yourself lucky. Whether your headers fit well or not has everything to do with the headers, your engine mounts, transmission mounts, etc etc. There's way too many factors with installing a set of headers to say "Oh it didn't good, this brand of headers are garbage." LPP headers got a really bad reputation because a few guys had problems yet there's many more out there that had no problems at all. Common sense - the bad apples are going to speak up louder than the ones who had no problems. I installed the same LPP headers on my car twice - the first time I had massive amounts of clearance and the second time I had barely 1/8th an inch of clearance. Just goes to show there's way too many other factors that influence a header's install.
