  • long tube headers for '94 lt1

My year-old pacesetters are rusted out and one is warped at the block, resulting in an eternal header leak so massive its making my o2s go nuts. Gotta love pacesetter quality!

New/used whatever. As long as its quality and in good shape I'm interested. EGR etc. is removed on my car so they don't have to have the plugs for them.

Call/text 248-231-5546 or hit me up on here.

SLP makes a good quality header from what I have been told. Even Hooker makes good ones.

Y'know, you could remove those, have them sandblasted and Jet Hot/ceramic coated, and have the mounting flange (or whatever it's called) machined flat, would probably cost about the same as a set of used headers. Just a suggestion.

I'd buy some eBay headers if I were in that situation.

were your pacesetters coated and do you drive the car in the elements?

My car stays dry most of the time but Ive had my coated pacesetters on since 2005 and I barely even have any surface rust.

My buddy recoated his headers for like $300, which IMO, isn't worth it for pacesetters.

I wouldnt own a set of headers that wernt coated. I bought my BBK shortys cause they were the cheapest coated header out at the time. And the budget was TIGHT, lol. Eric L

Yeah they were coated. I've only put about 4000 miles on them. Drove in the snow and during the Winter a few times...nothing major.

You got very ripped off on your coating job. I got my Mac's coated like 5 years ago and there is barely any rust.

Got any pics? Who coated them?

arent macs mid lenghts? it makes a huge difference not having collectors hanging down in the elements. moistur + 1200 degree headers is going to equal rust... especially if there is some salt mixed in.

Bought them coated, paid extra for it from Pacesetter.

Buy the stainless steel ones off e-bay and you'll never have to worry about rust again.

After 4k miles dude? Come on, that's a hack coating job. I'd go thru the roof if my headers only lasted me 4000 miles. They'd be on their way back to Pacesetter.

BTW, I got in touch with that guy and he doesn't know any of the dimensions on the headers other than they are 1.5" primaries. However, I tracked a member down on cz28 in the exhaust section (thread is still near the top) and it appears to have good clearance underneath the car, and the headers seem to be stepped from 1.5" to 1.75" or so.

The headers also hit off the shock towers and took some denting of the car to get the headers to fit.

It appears it's worth it to just spend the extra bucks on a quality set, as those are obviously a very cheap China job.

EVERY header set you install is going to require some work. I'd rather do the extra work with a cheap stainless steel set and know that my headers won't rust out than go with a set of pacesetters and know in a few years I'll have to buy a new set.
