  • Posi!

Im desperately looking for a cheap posi unit for my stock 10 bolt. Its a 28 spline 3 series carrier. I would possibly be intersted in a whole rear end if it has a posi unit. I would like to not have to buy a new one, because this rear end is only temporary until i can get a 12 bolt.

I would prefer a Zexel Torsen, but I would consider anything.. Thanks guys.

I am planning on pulling the stock posi rear out of my '88 IROC this weekend to swap in the 4th gen one i picked up a while back. 85,000 original miles on it and no issues the last time i drove it. LMK if it may be of any use to you.

Will do. It is a drum rear, but i do have a set of low mileage C5 PBR rear calipers w/ hoses, good pads, and good rotors that i was going to use if you want to do it as a package deal. All you would need is the adapter bracket to swap it over to a disc setup. That's what i was going to do until i found the posi disc rear locally this past summer.

Got the stock rear pulled Sat. afternoon. This is the 1st time i've really paid any attention to it and come to find out it's got the aluminum drums. I was able to pull it whole: disconnected from the hard brake line at the factory joint and left all the parking brake connections...no cuts. The shoes even look good, plenty of miles left on them. I took it to the car wash yesterday and scrubbed it down & power washed it. Cleaned up pretty nice. One of the hard lines looks pinched on the right side. I would recommend replacing that. Other than that, it's ready to install.
Let me know if either of you above is still interested. Otherwise, i'll post it up in the for sale section.
