Why not? 12'' or 9'' should take quite a beating

12 bolts in auto's work good. 12 bolts in manuals suck.
The TA stresses the 12 bolt housing on launch and will cause noise and breakage

A 12 bolt will be just fine, I have a friend who launches at 7,000 with a 12 bolt behind a 4 speed in a chevelle. No prob.

here is a quote from an axle supplier

I recommend the 9 inch rear for the higher horsepowered cars, and for those who have a manual transmission. Here is why.
Put a 12 bolt into a early Chevelle, Nova, Camaro, etc and you can beat the crap out of it, and not hurt anything. Put one into one of our cars with a torque arm, make a couple 4000 to 5000 dragstrip launches, and I can just about guarantee you'll pick up gear noise. If it is a drag only car, you'll never know or care about the gear noise. Drive your car home from the track, and the noise will drive you nuts. I feel the torque arm stresses the 12 bolt housing, causing distortion. We have never seen this happen with the 9 inch housing.

Umm, and I'm pretty sure Larry is speaking from experience here.

Yes get a 9in. The TQ arm on a 12 bolt will distort the housing and cause gear whine for sure.

my dad made 1200 plus rwhp on his 02 camaro 6 speed car he has a moser 12 bolt, no issues what so ever. the car is detuned now to the 800-900rwhp range and there still isnt any issues.

9" if your wise with your money, 12 bolt if you wanna be doing it again down the road. Too much evidence out there to ignore that there is a problem with 12 bolts in 6 speed cars with lots of hp.

No offense to you or your dad's car Don but I have yet to see it get off the line, I'm sure it would create a lot more stress if it hooked.

even if it does break it will get noisey. miine can go from dead quiet to not being able to even hear the engine at 50mph just from 1 launch. I have to reset the backlash after a few launches.
here is a pic from 1 of the times i have broken my 33 spline moser.
it broken the spider gears, broken teeth off the pinion, cracked the carrier, twisted the yoke and bent the left wheel studs. i broke a pinion bearing 1 time, crushed the crushed sleeve once, crushed a solid spacer once(chromoly now). now with a spool, chromoly spacer, ford yoke it seems to be ok, but leaks after a few launchs and you can't hear the radio.my buddy went low 8's no issues at all with an auto though

I'm running a 12 bolt Moser 33 Spline in mine. I have no issues but it does whine above 60mph.

i'm not saying they don't work. I didn't have any problems until I actually got my car to hook. If you make the car work with a decent amount of power you are gonna break it. The first time i broke mine was with TR224 cam only. My TA bolts are actually tack welded to the bracket to keep them from coming loose too
you can kinda here how loud mine is in this vid. 75/140 lube also helps soften the hit the the gears.
