  • need an LT1 alternator

I just put my motor back together and the one alternator seized up, i had a spare alternator and put it on and it doesnt even work i took it to the corner and barthly took it home. so if anybody has a decent LT1 alternator that is positive it works for dirt cheap that would be great.. thank you... o yea i am the same guy posting the tons of random lt1 parts for sale so if there is anything somone would like to trade an alternator for i may have a part for you.. i am also looking for a Cold air intake for cheap, and a MAF thank you.

Your alternator can be fixed for dirt cheap. It could be a few things inside the alternator that are bad.

      Brush holder 18 bucks
      Bridge rectifier 30 bucks

It's more than likely one of those two things. Pull the alternator apart and check that the brush holder isn't broken and that the brushes are in good shape.

If that checks out OK, try replacing the bridge rectifier. You can get a stock one for like 30 bucks, but this is the one I'd get...

There's also a test you can do on the voltage regulator to make sure that's working, but it doesn't sound like that's the problem. The alternator is really easy to work on, if you need a hand let me know and you can stop by and we'll take it apart.

I just did mine a couple weeks ago. My brush holder ended up being busted to pieces when I dropped a power line (for my amp) on the shock tower, causing a big spark.
