Ive got my eye on a couple in the mid 200 range..and are all in excellent shape..not very much use at all; just like I thought some owners just want something more quiet..

what do you want for your new systems..keep in mind they run between 340-380 new..

      Ill hear ya out

      thanks

Like i said, ran into a guy the other day with a 97 z28 with an LT4 swap; long tube headers and O/R y with LM1 and it sounded great! Plus his was an auto, so I think I can manage with my 5th and 6th overdrive gears..

If you havent heard it in person then you have to

opinions very i guess and i appreciate the input!
LT1's are 1000x different than an LS1 and sound completely different.

On an LS1 LT's, ORY, and an LM1 is ungodly loud and sounds absolutely terrible at anything other than WOT

            hahah

            1000 times different?

from everything Ive heard in person and watching the set-ups on youtube, they sounds good..the ls1's have newer technology then the LT1's and in all reality arent that different (there are differences yes I know)..chevy has been using common attributes in their engines since the days of the 327's and 350's in the 60's..once again, yes I know things have been updated but get real..in all reality put a blind man in front of an ls1 and lt1 and I can guarantee the differences arent night and day..

did i mention that I KNOW theyre are differences?

thats fine if you dont like noisy cars, then go get a borla or stack 3 mufflers one after another..bottom line is, imo if you dont like to hear your car, then you should have left it like it was from the factory or better yet bought an escort (not a civic; always buy american!)..

i only drive the car for half a year, I want to get all the performance sound that I can get for the time being..

man with all these SLP haters, nobody better have cut-outs on their car because i can only imagine all the *****ing that would go on

Yep your right an LT1 and a LS1 sound about the same..........have you ever heard both side by side? Also no one is bashing the exhaust they are just forewarning you, don't get pissy they are just trying to help you from making what they and I believe is a mistake. The catback is obnoxious and loud, its fun for a week or two then it gets annoying trust us we have had this setup unlike you. I now have a stock catback and a cutout so when the loudness gets overbearing I can flip a switch and hear myself think again, its for a good reason.

yep, what he said. We are just trying to help. Funny how everyone who has acctually OWNED the kit is forewarning you. lol if you like constant drone and your cheap GM interior plastic rattling all the time then best of luck.

Yup even I had LT's ORY and a cutout for a while. It was cool for the 1st year and than it just got down right annoying and it was a hassle to drive the car because of how loud it was. The next spring the cutout only stayed open for about 1 week after I got the car out and I capped it and pretty much never took it off again.

Having a loud car is cool until 1 of 2 things happen
                  1. You have a run in with the boys
                  2. You simply get so annoyed at the drone in the interior you want to rip your hair out

And I promise you if you drive more than 50 miles a year 1 of those 2 things will happen.

                        hahahahah

Guys I love the help..a little sarcasm for sarcasm never hurt anybody?

Im the same way, if I know something that I think someone does not, Ill always try to for-warn them since I dont want to see that person struggle or make a similar mistake. I appreciate all the help..

*worst case senario* Ill either swap out the muffler (will have to cut it out since its welded I think) or trade catbacks again with someone..

One thing I do know is that it is the loudest system out there and since I dont drive much highway (like previously stated), and since most roads are 45, I can cruise in 6th and let the car bog all day long for all I care and hear nothing but the engine telling me that Im in too high of a gear.

                        Thanks guys..I love the discussion!

we are trying to help someone not waste their money. Looks like your the only one here who is even worried about it.

ON TOPIC- After a week of being annoyed I put in a "spiral" (its litterally like a twister/spiral inside) bullet muffler in place of the joke of a "resonator" that slp puts with the kit, it definately helped with the drone/loudness but it was still pretty loud. This might be something to consider if you do get it and feel that its a touch too loud. I should mention I had my LM 1 on a v6 though

                            Lmao

anyways..its hard to tell the sarcasm through posts..

trust me..many girls have literally wanted to kill me after a few of my "sarcastic" texts that werent interpreted the right way..its all good!

anyways whats the deal with those spiral thingy-ma-bobs that your refering to? They did help a little? Has anyone tried using some dyna-mat or sound deadener material under the carpet and if so did that help with some drone? Im in no way nervous, but as long as were discussing it, my curiosity has taken over a little

And arent all those "race bullet" style mufflers that every company sells are essentially a "resonator?"..granted I know they are somewhat larger but straight through is straight through I thought? I just figured I would either end up with a trash can saized muffler out in the stock location (1 in, 2 out) or have a resonator style set-up which seemed to sound much better and cleaned up that area somewhat..

                            all the input is appreciated!

the spiral is just bullet type muffler, like the race ones you hear of. the slp resonator didnt help stop much sound at all lol. i placed the spiral bullet in the place of where the slp resonator was. There is a small pipe inside that is still straight through, and the rest of the exhaust goes through the spiral. The local racecars at Berlin Raceway over here use this type of muffler, so you know it flows pretty good..Dynamat would probably help, but thats a lot of work removing all the interior to do that when a simple muffler change could be made.

this is what I'm talkin about:
