  • LS1 Brake Caliper Bracket

I'm stuck in the middle of an LS1 brake swap. One of the Caliper brackets had a frozen caliper bolt that busted off. I need one of these brackets or a junk yard to pull one from. Any info let me know. If I cant get this part Tuesday afternoon, its very UNLIKELY I won't make the Meet and Greet this year

A good website to find things at junkyards is www.car-part.com Its an online inventory of A LOT of junk yards.

Thanks, Looks like the nearest one is about an 1.5 hour drive

I've called every local junk yard on the west side, and they laugh at me when I ask for a firebird or camaro.

Off to the dealer to see how much they want to rap me. Anyone else have any suggestions?

I have a set of Corvette brackets but they are to big, and the bolt holes don't line up position the fbody calipers on the rotor correctly.

Idk if you want to do this or not, but maybe try autozone? I've gotten rebuilt calipers there before for really cheap. Like $20, but it wasn't for an F-body. And yeah, I've gotten that reaction when I ask local junkyards if they have any f-bodies in as well, lol.

The only place you can get them new is from the dealer. I ended up dishing out $100 to have it Wednesday. I didn't think that was a bad price for what I was expecting.

Hopefully!!!!! Fingers crossed!!!!!! I will have the swap complete Wednesday night, and the alignment shop can squeeze me in Thursday, or Friday morning.

i just had the same problem this last weekend. had 3 of the 4 slides seized inside that bracket. i even busted the end off one trying to get it out. we welded a nut on the slide, heated with a torch and got it out. i was almost in the exact same boat as you. glad you got one and will be joining us.

I tried everything to get the seized bolt out. What really stinks is that I spend approx 3 hours on that bracket sanding down the casting. Then a few more hours painting it.

My goal is to have the swap done Wednesday evening. Hopefully drop the car off at the alignment shop early Friday morning for new ball joints and an alignment.
