On my '83 Z, I just took the headliner out, took off the original fabric, got some fabric and 3M spray and glued it back on. May be an option. I think I spent the most on the spray glue, but it was still under $20. Just an idea.

This was a few years back, but I think I found it at JoAnn fabrics. Just cut about a 4 ft square (I think, maybe 5, just measure the length of the frame before you go) section and shaped it up, then sprayed the frame and stuck it on and stretched it so the wrinkles got out. Stapled in some parts (but that was the inside where no one saw anyway). Let it dry and bam! Just like new. If I remember, the interior was black, so I went with rayon for a little sheen, but fabric is up to you.
