The only reason your car would get faster from this is because your pockets would be $125 lighter IMO

I think that is a load of crap. gm high tech performance is a VERY credible source and they show good gains. for $125 go for it

Yeah on a stock car it made 11 more hp for what are they new like $350? I bet you don't even gain more than a single MPH in the 1/4.
Once you start modding the car to any extent other than stock a hand held tuner isnt gonna yield you shit for gains. I would spend the money else where and get a real tune when you get some more mods.

Not everyone is going to run a highly modified car. I would not justify the cost of buying one new but it is nice to have the option to retrieve the program and get your money back when you want. rather than in my case i would not want to pay for someone to tune my car and then get tired of the harsh shifts when i am crusing and have to pay them again to set it back. It is all situational.........but as per the comment they do more than "Shit". heck just putting on shift improvement module alowed me to chirp the tires going into second

Obviously John you have never had anyone tune your car in any way, therefor its difficult to even gauge the value of a good tune. I can understand buying one used to tweak a few things but in all honesty I'll bet money that for $350 most tuners could tune your car better and see better gains than some generic handheld. Every car is different and responds a little differently to certain mods, firming up your shifts really isn't doing too much of anything unless you have just installed a aftermarket converter and want to readjust them to a stock feel and the only other options that you yourself adjust is your speedometer for your correct tire size and block out a few SES codes. The guy that tunes my car would probably charge much less and hes not guessing on what to set my fuel trims at or my shift firmness ect. They may be ok for a stock car but its ust something else to seel when more mods come down the road. Please do a before and after test at the drag strip I'd love to see the "gains"

ok captain obvious , obviously i have not because i never said i did ,but I dont think you understand what i am getting at with the way you are taking an aproach to defending something i am not arguing, i know that a tune does a better job and has much more gains that using a tuner. i am just saying that a tuner has benifits.....especially when you can get one cheap or even for free (not $350) which i will be getting this spring from a friend. and i never stated shift firmness helped my performance, i just like the feel of spinning the tires hitting second. and by gains i meant gains in hp not gains in a quarter mile time.

anyways thanks for trying to make me look like an idiot

Talk with anybody on this site and they will tell you I wouldn't try to make anyone look like an idoit I'm simply stating that handhelds are garbage. Your better off saving that money unless its like <$50 IMO.
