  • choosing the right cd player

    Hey dudes,

I wanna get a cd player to replace the stock tape player in my fb. I'm not sure what's good and what's bad regarding quality, watts, and all that. Brands? Can anyone tell me what's going on there?
    I also need speakers.

I don't even know which ones will fit in my car.

I've found some that I think look cool:

Oh yeah, and I want a "firebird" hu mount like mikeypoo!

I like Kenwood - especially the units that have a USB plug right on the front. You can get a decent size thumbdrive for cheap and then load all your mp3s on the thumbdrive and plug it into the USB port on the head unit.

Yep, or some mp3 players you can play just like a thumb drive too and it'll charge it while your driving. Either that or get one with a input port for an mp3 player. Either way. Who cares if it plays CD's, lol.

Come to think of it, I can't tell you the last time I actually used my cd player, lol.

          I do.
I don't have/want to have an ipod or mp3 player. My needs are simple.

lol, sorry didn't mean to knock your needs or CD's. I just love music and it sounds like you do too and I love the hell outta my Sansa, I take it everywhere. But I understand not everyone has/wants to mess with it. But I highly recommend it, all your music at the touch of a button, in digital quality.

That said, I'd still recommend going with something that has a USB port like B suggested or a mp3 input in case you ever decide to move that way down the road. I've personally had good luck with JVC and Pioneer myself, though I've never heard anything bad about Kenwood either. JVC and Pioneer aren't necessarily high end but they are solid and reliable usually.

Hey Robin, I strongly suggest you go to Best Buy or some store simular. Listen to each head unit and speaker combos. Some head units and speakers sound like bird crap even though they are "Brand Names". this way u can pick what sounds the best and meets your budget.

...lol...mine are too...Cheryl found a couple of refurbed 2GB MP3 Scandisc players for $15 apiece.

Now that I have it, I find I actually use it a fair amount.

Have no desire to have put all my CDs on one though...that's like having 400 cable channels that I don't use...lol...

lol, just put them on when you want to use them, I wouldn't take that kind of time either. Or just download them, probably faster.

whatever you do, dont buy the legacy or pyramid that you listed. let mikeypoo help you out with a deck. i say alpine myself. currently rocking a pioneer, but would love an alpine again. check crutchfield.com, they have some good deals also.
