  • WTB: Drivers side valve cover TTA or 3.0L

I'd really like to put a second valve cover breather on my 89 Turbo TA. The breathers attach perfectly into the oil fill hole in the drivers side valve covers and a drivers side cover will work on the pass side.

The valve covers on my car are somewhat unusual. All valve covers that would fit have been discontinued. They only made 1550 TTA's so those are hard to find but the same cover was used on 3.0L V6's used in 1986ish Oldsmobile 88 and possibly buick Lesabre. I have three bolts down the center of the cover - not an equal distance from each other. The 3.8L covers have 4 bolts (two on top and two on bottom) and the 4.3L covers have 3 down the center but are equally spaced (those can be found all over ebay).

I contacted my local junk yard and they have nothing. They gave me a list of phone numbers to other yards that did have them. Most had 3.8L 4 bolt valve cover but one did have the correct 3.0L listed for $15!!! Unfortunately the number I was given was incorrect I call my local yard for the correct number or the yards name but they said too bad. Sucks not having a decent local junk yard for older cars.

Anyways, Does anybody have a valve cover they'd be willing to sell me? - or maybe a good junkyard that may have one? I'd be willing to spend around $50 - that sounds reasonable for just one cover right? Let me know what you've got!

    Thanks,

    Eric

Yeah, ebay has tons of very cool valve covers for 4.3's. They even had some custom fab'd sheet metal ones. Unfortunately the TTA cover is different.

Good thought and thanks for the suggestion! Keep the idea's coming because I'm starting to run out. I found one set that was blasted and powder coated with gaskets for $150. Probably a fair deal for what it is but I really don't need anything that fancy - I just want one side. Plus I'm planing to grind/polish it so a regular used one would be fine as long as it isn't severly pitted.

      Thanks!

What's the name of the junk yard that you have the wrong # for? Maybe someone on here knows of the place or has the right #.
