Pretty sure you could rebuild it for $1,500 or less if you do the work.sigpic93' Z28 w/ Built LT-1, Hays Clutch, 373 Gears, 315 Nitto NT01, No Rain, 55000 Original Miles... Ya it gets treated better than my girl!

What happend when the bearing went??
Why does he say the block is bad?
I would get a second opinion from an engine shop on the block before you count it out.
A blown bearing isn't going to ruin a block unless you put a rod out the side or gouged the crap out of a cylinder.

the oil pressure guage would drop to zero when idling, would run low at speeds and the car was bogging down/missfiring. the dealership said it was the sending unit so they replaced it. then it still acted up so they looked into it thinking oil pump and when they did a tear down to get the pump they confimed what my friend though it was that the bearings were shot. the dealship is looking into it as far a being rebuildible but didnt think it would be...
as far as rebuilding it ourselves, dont really has the room or time.
will a 1996 LT1 work in a 1994?

Some of them have what they consider a baby LT-1 an dthat is because they have a smaller bore than a F-body or Vett.
Everything else should work though.
Not rebuildable??
Can it be bored out and made into a 355 or 383??

being someone thats been in this position...was the car making noise? did he actually spin a bearing? low oil pressure will cause you to spin a bearing, thats what happened to mine, but when i spun it, there was no hiding it. the car sounded like crap and you could hear everything screeching around inside...how will the dealership know it spun a bearing if it is not making noises and they didnt tear it apart?
Id get it out of the dealership...i doubt anyone there knows squat about lt1s
get it to victory racing or something...that motor oughta be rebuildable. mine wasnt, but i drove it from lapeer to shelby twp ON THE SPUN BEARINGS

If ya brought it out to our shop we could have it rebuild and run it across the dyno before you could every find all the pieces to swap in a new engine. I wouldn't trust anything a dealership would say.sigpic93' Z28 w/ Built LT-1, Hays Clutch, 373 Gears, 315 Nitto NT01, No Rain, 55000 Original Miles... Ya it gets treated better than my girl!
