  • My LS1 and T56 for trade...?

Hi so it's been a while since I've been on here. Nice to be back to check out the old stomping grounds!

Anyways, so I am still the proud owner of a nice (in my eyes) 1998 Formula M6 that I was fortunate enough to hang on to over the years. Years ago, I decided to go with the popular TSP heads and cam route and was pleasantly surprised at what I was able to yield out of an otherwise easy upgrade.

Now in the present, I'm a day late and a dollar short again, playing catchup with the turbo LS crowd as this is the direction I'd now like to go in. I'd like to ditch the LS1/T56 and try something like a 4.8, 5.3, or 6.0 and TH400 or other various comparable Auto tranny setup.

I admit, I have no clue the worth of any of my possessions, which is why I didn't place a dollar value and would rather just discuss some form of trade. i.e. Is a stock 6.0 and TH400 for a heads and cam LS1 and T56 a fair trade? I really don't know but I would love to discuss and hopefully work something out with another in need. All I ask for is fairness and honesty!

About (Rebuild and upgraded parts have under 20k miles):

    - 98' LS1 with approx +/-105k miles total
    - TSP 5.3 stage 2.5 heads, and 228R cam
    - LS6 intake
    - Dyno Tuned after engine work completed
    - T56 with upgraded clutch/short throw shifter
    - Moser 9" with TruTrac and 4.10 or 4.11 gear

In a nutshell, that's the gist of what I have. I really don't want to part the engine out or have time to at this current time (not looking to trade just the heads for god knows what ). If your're interested and would like to work something out or provide input to point me in the right direction, please shoot me a note. I really appreciate all the assistance and I can't wait to see what you guys have to say!

    Thanks,
    J

If you want to sell anything separate, like that rear end, or the t56. Let me know! I have no clue how much that rear end is worth, but the t56 depending on clutch and if its stock id say probably 1500-2000ish? From what I've been seeing lately. Been considering a t56 swap in mine, but haven't fully decided yet. Constantly being told by friends to keep the auto since it'll be faster in the long run. Also sat in a buddy's m6 and I was pretty cramped at 6'6... But definitely interested in that rear end if the price is right.

I've hear 100 bucks is fair on the rear, so ill give you $200 for it.. sound good?

lol I think I would have given a digit to get one for that! . I found the receipt from TSP to provide a little more info...

-Moser 9" for factory rear discs, 31 spline w/ TruTrac, 4.11 street gears, 3 channel ABS, standard width w/ standard wheel studs, nodular iron center section, w/ LCA relocation brackets, w/ chromoly adjustable pan hard rod, w/ optional fill plug.

And the trans is stock besides the slightly stronger clutch which was replaced not long ago. I would say 2,000 miles on it would be a high side guess as the car has been driven very little here and there. I'll have to dig up the details on it, but I had a reputable trans shop in the metro area set me up with it and install it. Also have a Tick Master Cyliner hooked up to make the drive pleasurable as well.

I'm located in Southgate and would consider the T56 for the right price down the road if you still have it. Timing isn't great right now, but if you still have it in the fall I'd be willing to work a cash deal out.
