  • Wanted 70-80 Chevy Pickup

Must be Full Size Crew Cab (4 door) With standard Box. NO Shortbed. Would prefer Dually. Dont care if it runs or not. Dont care if its 4x4 or not even. My Next project so something half way solid. I know Cab Corners and Rockers tend to rest No Biggy but would prefer NOT to see the ground while sitting in drivers seat. And Prefer it to still have solid Cab Mounts LOL. This is a project so Cheaper the better

They didn't make crew cabs until into the 73-87 years and even then they're few and far between, ESPECIALLY in any kind of decent shape. I see them every now and then in the Michigan Auto & RV.

no factory crew cabs until 1977

same as the first year for power truck doors

some conversion companies custom made some crew cabs before 77 however

more commonly in the 67-72 years though

        for fire and rescue use

        uncommon though

but they exist in places such as the far west especially AZ and Cali and Washington

here in IL i have only ever seen one pre-'77 crewcab and it was a '71 and was actually a missouri truck, a friend of mines

also this was the first year for any factory built K-30 trucks(1 ton 4x4)

all '76 earlier 1 ton 4x4 GM trucks were not factory built or offered

        a true(factory) 1 ton 4x4 had a dana 60 front axle

if it was not a 1 ton 4x4 then it was a dana 44 front

77 was a big change year for gm trucks, also for 77 only were yellow side body moldings instead of the common black ones for all the other 73-80 years-

'77 was the anniversary of the GMC truck division,
the yellow side moldings were used on both chevy and gmc trucks though

so it is easy to spot a '77 truck out of all the '73-80 years in which look virtually identical except for the door change in '77, and the grille changes each couple of years and the headlamp bezel/parking lamp change for '79 and '80

the most recent 77 i owned was last up until last spring, my '77 k-10 longfleet pickup 400sb th350 3.07 10 dana 44 front and 12 bolt rear, ran drove great, went through some real deep snow like it was nothing

some 1980 trucks were square headlights with the old front nose- before the 1981 redesign,

only 1980 silverado models got this square light front,
very uncommon but i have seen a few so far and parted one once and kept these one year headlamp buckets and parts for attic storage
        one year deal only

some pre-77 4 doors/crews looked nice, and some looked horrible and were badly chopped/cobbled together, each one was unique, one of a kind converted

depending on who did the conversion,

all 77-up ones looked nice and were factory built as 4 doors, so..

3+3 was the name of the crew cabs

        two bench seats

3 plus 3 more ppl altogether inside the cabs

these have a badge on the cab that says 3+3

in most years anyways, but not all

        good luck
