My work is hiring an entry-level art assistant position!

Car and Driver is seeking a full-time entry-level art assistant to join the creative team for the print and digital editions. This is a perfect situation for learning the ins and outs of the day-to-day operations of a national print magazine's art department.

Responsibilities:
• Some creative department administrative/clerical duties.
• Maintaining electronic files of the entire image workflow.
• Working with photographers and prepress posting and collecting images.
• Preparing InDesign files for press.
• Working with photographers on photo shoots.
• Some design work, from creating basic pages for the magazine to PowerPoint presentations.

Qualifications:
• Graphic design or photography experience a plus. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience with InDesign and Photoshop.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to drive a manual transmission a plus!

The position is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Some on-the-job training is provided. Salary and level will be commensurate with experience. Comprehensive fringe benefits offered.

With photography being one of my biggest hobbies, and the fact that I'm rather burned out as a Network Administrator, this sure sounds interesting as a career change. Sounds really cool. I'm pretty sure the pay cut would kill me, unfortunately.

Yea I would imagine from a network admin to this position would be quite a paycut.. but to tell the truth Im not sure what the pay on this position would be.

I wouldn't say that is unreasonable, if I were to guess (don't hold me to it) I would guess it would be in the 40k-50k range.. I could be really off base here.. but from other positions I've seen hired in it seems on point.

Best way to find out would be to apply and see what they offer first hand.
