Calling Joel and other degreed IT folks!

I thought IT was for me back a few years ago till I had a bad experience at a small IT job.

I used to be pretty good at managing linux/mysql/networking/apache/custom building kernels and such. Was very good with file structures, SSH, was toying with virtual servers being hosted off a headless server in my basement. I have since decided that fixing cars is what is better for me.

Looks like a great opportunity for IT folk though. Go get 'em!

I'd be surprised if they have any positions that don't require a degree. I can't get anyone into IT Audit without a degree.

Most jobs ive applied for in the last 2 years required a bachelors or bachelors in progress. That doesnt mean a bachelors gets you in the door though... At all. Most places want something like 5 years of experience which makes a recent college grad kind of a tough market. After the last couple interviews ive done, im doing everything i can to broaden my technical knowledge. The degree really only gave me a taste of everything.
