yup, those vents are a pretty common spot to put gauges. you guys are lucky for having a nice fitment spot like that. us 93-97 camaro guys don't have that luxury.

I envy the 'birds/TA's and the 98+ Camaros for having such a great configuration for a dash. The HVAC and Radio area is a PERFECT spot to mount a touchscreen carPC
