Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

My truck needs a trans .... I wonder if this will work if I swap the tailshaft housings. It's a '96 Silverado. It has a 4l60E in it I think. It's a 4x4, so the tailshaft housings will definitely be similar.
I just wonder if the ratios are different...
As long as the wiring is the same it should work, normally the rear end is the major difference in the trucks for gearing. When I swapped trans last year I had to swap tailstocks over as they were different too, 4 bolts and done.
I think I'm gonna have to call some people on this one .. sounds like a great deal though. The trans is going in my DD though, so I don't know if I really need a shift kit for it. Would a shift kit hold up to towing anything I wonder.
Shift kit should not matter on towing in all honesty, just as long as it has a trans cooler which I'm thinking most of the trucks have. I drive my car year round so a shift kit in the rain and snow is not fun at all. My first trans had one in it, bout got me a ticket a few times in the rain when it jumped sideways.
I'm not debating it, I know I have a 96 trans in my car with no problems. It's up to whom ever buys it to make sure it works for what they need, it's listed as the way it is since it bolts up to any of those years but clearly states it's from a 95. I'm on LS1Tech all the time, I posted about what years work where when I looked for my trans last year. Some say 96's work and some don't, many of us run them with no problems though, the 97 is probably different but I'm not an expert by any means.
Updated pics as of 5/28 just to clarify trans has just over 103k pulled from a running car. It's not a built trans nor does it have any markings to suggest that it is. I just know I was told it had a stage 3 shift kit by the previous owner of the car.
