Thanks Michael. Doesn't look too bad. Lets talk tomorrow.

As for the "why".....well, things got a little hot under there. Was going to shield this area off before some extended run time but toooooo late

Any more run time, melt through the tank, gas leak, hot pipes....who knows. Not taking any chances....

Agreed. This exhaust has been a huge PITA. Going to move it a little further forward and come up with another attachment point to hold it down...

sorry about your luck, Brent. On another note is this possibly the highest mileage part on the car now?

LMAO, I think the tank is the highest mileage part!! Now will be replaced by an even older piece

Glad I could help out and it was nice to meet you. Not sure if you got the same wind heading back east, but going west...damn! The tractor-trailers were dog legging down the highway and I averaged 12 mpg all the way back (19 going east)

Don't forget to remove that white sticker that is on the side of the tank. You'll notice why when you see it, I just saw what it says in one of the pictures I posted

No wind here....must have been behind me. Think I might rock the V6 sticker for awhile.....usually runs on 6 or 7 cyl most of the time anyway

Really? Thats it? Thats all your doing? You buy the fire extinguisher yet? Hope your insurance is paid up.

I expected something much more grand then that from the KING of BLING.

Nice to hear from ya Gary.....my ballz were just beginning to heal since the last time we spoke

And of course its not done. This was the "insurance" portion of the fix. The real fix will be on the exhaust.

I really like the idea you have with the exhaust. I've been reading up on the lavamat stuff as well, it's on the to-do list. That tank looks brand new, cleaned up well

I really don't want my carpet above the cat to ignite...

Sorry I was just expecting some fancy 1 off polished SS or alum heat shield. And then I seen the lava mat taped to the gas tank.
