        its so you can preload it for maximum rigidity... at least thats what the website says

          I think that makes as much sense as a having one in the first place...

          Put in clearer terms, if you're going to have one, I would think it would be beneficial to preload it, it could only help...

                      The v6 must sit too high in the engine bay compared to the v8 or something.

                            I'm not for sure on that but I know I have a v 8 model from umi on my car currently I figure it should fit on jen's car and I will get an upgrade For Scarlett.
