  • FS: 8.8 rear end for 93-02 FBODY!

up for sale is a 8.8 hybrid rear end for all 4th gen Fbodys, everything done on this rear end was done right, the 10 bolt tubes(off of a 02 Trans Am) were professionally milled down to the perfect diameter so they fit snug right into the 8.8 housing, after that it was took to a professional welding shop where it was welded. the 8.8 tubes were even extra welded with the nickel rod(cuz the housing is cast steel) so this way you will never have to worry about twisting a tube. the 10 bolt tubes have 4 big plug welds besides the weld around the tube for maximum strength as well. The Ford axles have alittle bit bigger of a lip i guess you could call it where the c-clip connects so putting your GM axles in the 8.8 posi make a little bit of slop from side to side, i had button machined that fits on the end of the GM axle that will take up the slop(so you dont have to worry about kicking a c clip!) the GM axles came out of a 2002 Trans Am with 40k on them, so they are in excellent shape. the rear end currently set up for a mini ladder bar set up, i kept the mounting brackets on the rear end so if you want a mini ladder bar set up then you could build off of those. i will post a pic of what mine looked like. i ended up blowing the posi out of it last season(came with the rear so i figured i would see how long it lasted) so this will not come with a posi(but can find them cheap on ebay all day) but this will come with a BRAND new Richmond 3.73 gear set that i just bought. it will also not come with the front pinon flange as well(can find them in a junk yard cheap). other than that buy a posi and pinion flange, and you have a stout rear end. it is currently set up with lt1 backing plates but takes 2 minutes to change to ls1 backing plates.. and since its a 4 channel rear end, you could probably keep your abs/traction control as well. wow sorry for all the writing but just want you guys to know how nice this rear is. price is $650 and will come with the gloss black boxed lca with mini ladder bar brackets and the ladder bar minus the heim joints. forgot to mention has all new bearings and seals as well!

Dibs. The axles are out of an 02 TA? I thought the lengths were different?

And what has to be done to convert it for use with LCA's? Just welding on brackets?

lca's? the lca brackets are already there? i guess i dont know what your asking lol.. you can see in the one pic that i was running my stock lcas, modified for the ladderbar. and no there the same length. but nothing on the rear minus the backing plates is from my 10 bolt out of my lt1.. tubes and axles from that 02 ta.
edit: i think i know what your asking now, the mini ladder bar is what your ment right? and you just need to get 4 adjustable hiem joints, a peice of tube, and weld a bracket on your lcas then attach and go from there..

Hmm. I'm going to be home in 3 weeks so I guess I'll have to see if you still have it then.

No problem, I kinda have these brand new adjustable LCA's anyhow and it should cost about the same to build one, only more work involved. That and I'd have to wait until mid-late summer.

hate to break it to ya but 1000 bucks is quite steep for something that still needs a new posi.. something closer to around 7-750 would prob get some better bites..

what are u planning on going to next kyle?
