  • Pitbull Puppy

6-7 weeks old, just got him and my roommate flipped his lid, so now i gotta find him a new home, he's black with some white marking, he's 75% pit and 25% husky. 50.00 rehoming fee, and he comes with a new collar, leash and 20lb bag of dogfood, purina puppy chow, let me know. I just paid 75.00 for him plus the cost of the leash, food, ect. was another 30.00.

Pics might help. . . Pitbulls have a terrible reputation, that's why the Humane Society always has so many of them. I had a friend get attacked by one as a kid, I'll never keep one as a pet. Just can't get past how aggressive they can become in an instant.

That said, I have also known people who have kept them as pets with no problems.

It's all about in how you train them...

Good luck with finding him a new home.

True. That's probably why they have such a bad rep, people see someone's trained pit bull fighting dog, and walk up to it to play with it, and they get their face ripped off. These dogs seem to be the choice for gangsters and thugs to use as guard dogs/attack dogs/fighting dogs.

I still want to see pics, puppies are cute regardless of the breed.

The funny part is that Pit Bulls actually make horrible guard dogs because they're a terrier - they attack small animals but have absolutely no instincts to attack humans. It's just that they have such a bad reputation from being trained to be fighting dogs. The fact that it's a pit bull is the deterrent - completely overlooking the fact that they're not aggressive.

PIT BULLS HAVE NO INSTINCTS TO ATTACK HUMANS????? I can't count how many news stories are out there in regards to pit bulls attacking people.

            http://www.dogsbite.org/bite-statistics.htm

            Dog bite statistics ::

Each day, over 1,000 U.S. citizens require emergency treatment for dog bite injury.1 The following studies examine injury occurrence and the breeds most likely to bite. Dog attack deaths and maimings, U.S. & Canada,
            September 1982 to December 22, 2009

By compiling U.S. and Canadian press accounts between 1982 and 2009, Merritt Clifton, editor of Animal People, determined the breeds most responsible for serious injury and death: The combination of pit bulls, rottweilers, presa canarios, and their mixes:
            • 80% of attacks that induce bodily harm
            • 69% of attacks to children
            • 83% of attack to adults
            • 68% of attacks that result in fatalities
            • 74% that result in maiming
Read study highlights » Report: U.S. Dog Bite Fatalities January 2006
            to December 2008

DogsBite.org, a national dog bite victims' group, recorded 88 U.S. fatal dog attacks between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2008. Pit bulls accounted for 59% of these deaths.
            • Of the 88 fatal dog attacks recorded by DogsBite.org, pit bull type dogs were responsible for 59% (52). This is equivalent to a pit bull killing a U.S. citizen every 21 days during this 3-year period.
            • The data also shows that pit bulls commit the vast majority of off-property attacks that result in death. Only 18% (16) of the attacks occurred off owner property, yet pit bulls were responsible for 81% (13).

hrm, then you really should have witnessed interactions when i would take tecato for walks.

i would be all up on a new puppy if i didnt just get a roomie who also had a cat. a pitbull would actually be one of my first choices in breed.

Pit bulls are a really great breed. I have 2 full blooded pits myself and love them to death. They are two of the best dogs i have ever owned and ill never regret owning them. They get loose sometimes, but have never once chased somebody. I wish people would quit discriminating against this breed, its like being racist to a certain race of a human. I dont care what kind of dog you have, it matters on how they were treated. On another note, i hope this dog goes to a great home. If i had the room, id be all over this. Good luck

Pits are very smart dogs, who happen to be extremely strong for their size, but I've had many, many friends who owned them and honestly they're great family dogs, the rep is what scares people away, I mean IF they do bite yeah it can be scary cause of the strong bite they do have, but that's due to improper training and neglect, and pit that's loved will be your best friend and they are very loyal and smart. He's a beautiful puppy 5 and a half weeks old (I asked the girl I got him from last night) and he has blue eyes (husky trait). Honestly I don't want to get rid of him, but I have to.
