  • Parting out 2001 Pontiac Trans AM WS6

Hi everybody. It's been a while since I've been on here, but an unfortunate event has occured that has returned me here. I've recently crashed my ride . Mostly body damage. Insurance has decided to total it due to cost of repair, but I bought it back from them because most of the important parts are still intact. I am planning parting out the car, more details to come later as the tear down and parting process progresses. I know that the entire drivetrain is good. Again only front end damage to the front clip and rear passanger quater. The entire drivetrain is still good. Going to sell the motor, tranny, and rear end for sure. Thinking about ebay, as well as local sell. Thought that I would post it here either as a link or direct sell. Don't really know what else is salvageable untill I begin taking her apart but for now here's what I do know is intact and available:

    Drivetrain:
2001 LS1 Motor 114k miles mated to a 4L65E tranny with same mileage. Well maintained and still in good condition. No damage. Computer is good as well.
Stock 3:23 rear end gears and carrier in good condition with same mileage. More info on the condition of the rear end and axle housing to come once it is removed.

    Exterior:
    T-Tops in good condition
Rear hatch in good condition as well as hydraulic arms and glass.
All windows and windshield in good condition.

    Interior:
Pretty much everything inside is not damaged at all. Only damage is splitting in driver's seat in leather stitching, but that was existing prior to wreck.

More info and pics will follow as the parting process begins. Please hold your questions if you are interested untill I get a more detailed idea of what will be parted and for what prices. If you or someone you know is in need of parts listed above or maybe something I haven't thought of please let feel free to reply and I will get back to you asap.
Yeah, but mine's still louder than yours!

Ok, peeps. Going to start the cut up and tear down process saturday if the weather holds. Will have more detailed information later on about what is being salvaged for parting out and what is being scrapped, but I do have some immediate answers preliminary to the teardown and will do my best to answer as detailed and honest as I can, but don't quote me on it as things may be subject to change once stuff is taken apart.....

I have the T-top style roof, so no head liner sorry. And as for the AC compressor, that is junked. Pretty much everything that's infront of the motor in the front clip housing is junked. Only the AC unit itself attached to the block on bottom is ok, but the bearings in it are shot. Once they went out I took off the belt that ran it, but the unit itself may be good. It still kicked out cold air last time I used it.

So far, there is no damage, will have more info on that once those parts are removed, but as far as I know after the wreck it has started mutliple times without any abnormalities and idled normally as well. It has not been driven however so do not immediately know innerds condition of trans but, it shouldnot have any damage. At this point, I may already have the trans sold. do not yet know on that as the guy has yet to get back to me about what he wants to do yet. I will keep you informed on it if it goes thru or not, but all damage sustained was front body and rear pass side quater panel. there shouldnt be any problems with it, so assuming that everything is fine, as a package deal with the motor, trans, harness and computer I would start at 4,000 asking price. I will prolly list it on ebay with a starting bid at 3,500 as that seems to be the common comparable base for a drivetrain package w/o computer or harness with comparable milles. But if you have the cash up front and everything is in the condition as stated, I will let it go for $4,000.00 flat for a complete drop with harness and computer.

Do not know yet. Once I have it off I will check up on prices now that I know someone wants it. This is the hatch with 'raised' spoiler. Glass is good. Rear center light should be good. Hydraulic arms are good. Cannot tell yet if it is twisted or torqued, will know once removed, but to the eyes its good. Color is red.

Gotta be more specific about the rear end. Do you mean the whole assembly as in the pumpkin housing and axle housings. Do not know the condition, axles may or may not be twisted or cracked/stressed. do you want the driveshaft and u-knuckle, that should be fine. Or just the carrier unit inside with ring and pinion gear set. those are fine as well. Let me know, and I will set aside what it is you want for you and come up with a price.

I don't really understand what it is your asking me. Yes the T-tops are in good shape. the roof is just a cross arm between the windshield and the A-pillar/bar. I'm not putting anything on the car, i'm parting it out and scrappng the rest.

Exterior door panels are junk. Interior panels ok. Driver's side has a crack going from sholder rest insert to rubber lip of window line, apparantly this is a common crack. all electrics in doors are good, glass is good and window motors are good as well. will configure a price now that I know their wanted.

Car is red. Speaker set up is custom from prev owner. I had speakers in hatch area, apparantly this was not a stock option when bought so they were put in by somebody. Speakers consist of both door kick panel clusters, rear speakers, and hatch area speakers. Rear pass hatch speaker may not work as that quater panel took damage, but do not know if speaker itself is damaged.

Will have more info on everything as process begins tomorrow....ugh, do not look forward to doing this. I loved this car, and can't believe it's come to this, but hey shit happens. Will try to address everybody as this goes along and will go about this as a first come first served basis. Now that I know certain parts are in demand I will hold onto them and not auction them or locally sell them right away as you have laid first interests in them. I will keep you posted and post up pics asap.

I want the whole assembly, however, I learned last night I still have trans issues so I may not have funds for this anymore.
