  • FS: Dell Computers

My mom's work got all new computers and is having me sell their old ones. They have had new hard drives put in and a fresh, LICENSED, copy of XP installed. They are all Dell Optiplex GX270's. They just come in a small or large version. Would be great for a garage computer for music or Alldata, or a great, cheap, computer for the kids.

    Specs
    -80gig hard drive
-Intel Pentium 4 processor rated at 2.80GHz
    -256mb RAM
    -CD-burner
    -3 1/4" Floppy Drive
-Fresh, LICENSED, copy of Windows XP installed.

Comes with Dell Keyboard and Dell Mouse

That's it. If you want Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Quickbooks, etc you are on your own.

I'm actually surprised how quick they are. I thought for being 2-year old office computers they would be dogs but they are faster than my 4-year old custom build desktop.

    Pricing
-Computer (small or large) with 15" CVT monitor - $150
-Computer (small or large) with 17" CVT or 15" LCD monitor - $200
-Computer (small or large) with 17" LCD monitor - $250

CURRENTLY I HAVE 1 SMALL DESKTOPS and 6 LARGE DESKTOPS. At this moment I have 3-4 15" CVT, 3-4 17" and 1 17" LCD at my house.

At the moment I'm supposed to try and sell them as a package. I'll ask my mom tonight though.

Thanks Tom. I'm just asking more for shits and giggles. The Optiplex GX270s aren't bad at all. We have GX280s at work and with a bit more memory they'll work fine for most people.

Tom can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Optiplex GX270 was before the switch to SATA. These will be IDE.

Correct Brian. It's the older style IDE motherboard/hard drive.

NVM then. I would use it for a server or something but not with IDE drives.

Honestly for the price I wouldn't let the IDE vs SATA turn you off, Alex. Atleast IMHO, when you're talking a single CPU machine that maxes out at about 2gb of ram (if my memory serves correctly), the difference between IDE and SATA seems minimal. I have an HP desktop that I'm using to run Server 2008 on IDE and it's great.
