Bump again. Comes with 64 and 32 bit can do an upgrade from vista or a full install from xp or vista.

i just bought a pc with vista on it, but it came with a free windows 7 upgrade (which is en route via mail) is it extremely benefical for me to upgrade....im not a computer "geek", and vista seems to work just fine for what i need. what do ya think?

do it. I stopped using vista and used linux for a while and then tried windows 7 and never looked back.

What are the specs needed to run 7? Is it a memory hog like Vista? This computer is a workhorse but it might be a bit slow/small to run Windows 7 smoothly. Currently I'm running XP Pro.

I might just pony up and buy the Mrs. the new laptop she wants for Christmas. Will probably still be in the doghouse at the point too!

I think 512 mb of ram will run it but 1gb is recommend. It runs better on older computers than vista.

Meh, I ran Vista perfectly fine on 1gb of ram... and 7 runs perfectly fine as well.

I had 1gb on my laptop and had vista for a while and it was fine but ran much faster with 7. But now it runs Crunchbang linux and is super fast!
