  • 4-sale rare Antique Boat........

I have decided to thin my collection......this 1958 SkipperCraft will be sorely missed, but I just don't have the time to give it the attention it deserves.

Therefore up for sale is a 1958 SkipperCraft Panther, built right here in Holland, Mi. It is # 61 built, and I bought it from the original owner of the company. This is a very rare version of the boats SkipperCraft built, only a hand full of Panther's were ever made. Only Panther's had the rear tail fins, and were given the more deluxe interior. The owner was keeping it for his son, but he never showed an interest in it.

At the time of my purchase (10 yrs ago) I had the owner repaint the black hull and copper bottom. Since then I have only had it at a few boat shows and took it out on the water once. I could never get the 60hp Gale outboard motor to run smoothly, and as it sits right now I can not get it to fire. (it has sat for 8yrs now, most likely needs a tune-up and carb work.) So the motor will need some work.....my intentions were to always replace it with a period correct Mercury outboard.

90% of the boat is original......none of the chrome has been replated and still shines as good as new. The interior is mostly original as well, with only the bottom 1/2 of the rear seat being reupholstered. If someone is looking for a very rare, very original, wood outboard boat this is the one to buy.

    Asking $5500.

That is a work of art man! I wish I could have a boat but alas I am a renter and I already have too many toys in my driveway.

Very nice Scott! I love wooden boats. My dad and I always used to talk about restoring one someday. Wish I had the extra coin right now to buy this. Good luck with the sale.

After 2 1/2 years of not being real serious in trying to sell the boat, out of the blue I get a call last Friday and it's new owner picked it up Saturday....Apparently one of his buddies saw it a show I was invited to display it at this past summer, and passed my contact info along to him....another bittersweet day, I'll never find another one, but if I'm not using it why keep it?!!?
