If you own a 6 speed, I would consider a 9 inch over a 12 bolt if you plan on going to the track.

Why does everyone say this? I have an M6 with a 12 bolt.

Because 9" rears are better, stronger and easier to fix when the gear alignment gets jacked up.

They are both strong. If you plan on doing hard launches at the track and daily driving your car then you could run into a noisy 12 bolt. Something about the torque arm mount on them flexing the housing. I was also told that the pinion can move over time just like the 10 bolt? I'm not an expert, but was told that the added stress a M6 can create you should consider a Ford 9inch.

My buddy has a '00 Formula M6 with a twin turbo LS1 and he runs a 12 bolt with no issues. Not sure if I'd run one in my car, but it does happen.

I may go that way then, any suggestions on a certain brand?

12 bolts are junk in a 6 speed. i can show you pics of some of my broken parts. had to goto a spool to keep from breaking it but it still has to come apart all the time to reset lash cause the housing moves so much

                    I'd go with a 9"
