  • For Sale: 1983 Chevy Camaro Z28

This is not my car, just posting it for a friend

    1983 Camaro Z-28 white / blue interior
Was originally a 305 Crossfire car.
122K original miles, stored every winter, some surface rust around the doors but a completely solid chassis. Interior is in good condition. Power window motors are just about shot, but I have 2 that I pulled from the junkyard to go with it.
Has a fresh 355 1 pc RMS motor. Motor needs work
350 block bored and blueprinted by Backwoods Racing in Midland ($350)
    Completely balanced bottom end ($160)
10/20 Stock crank ($70), reconditioned rods ($100), Speed Pro Hypereutectic pistons ($100, Hastings rings, Felpro gasket set ($80), Melling HV oil pump ($50), Clevite 77 bearings ($50),
601 heads with 2.20 / 1.60 valves, 171cc intake runners and 62cc exhaust runners, 58.6cc combustion chambers, completely ported and polished ($450),
1.6 ratio roller tipped rockers, Edelbrock performer intake, Holley 650 cfm carb, Proform distributor ($140), Edelbrock TES headers and y-pipe with AIR fitting removed and welded shut, Hooker catback exhaust ($275), Mallory 3 port return style regulator, new Duralast battery. Water pump is also new. The only used items on the engine are the carb, power steering pump and alternator. Everything else has been replaced!
Currently running a Comp Cams CL12-208-2 cam and lifters ($180) with less than 10 miles on it.
It needs work - probably a new cam and lifters - other than that the motor is brand new and healthy. Trans is a stock 700r4 that will need rebuilding soon but it has a new Oregon Transmissions 2400 rpm stall torque convertor.
I have receipts for everything listed with prices and they were all purchased within the last year (mostly over the winter). I have way too many toys and can't continue to sink tons of cash into the car. With a little help and someone with good engine knowledge, this car would be a steal.
I'm asking $2,500 or best offer and car is located in Midland, MI. Can hear run. Call Dan at 989-708-9163.

Why do you say it needs a new cam/lifters?

I have no clue, just what his ad said. He says he's fixing everything, and he's likely going to keep the car.

Looks like a nice car, could use a little work. I think somebody here could make it a screamer! I think it looks a little weak in it's present state, but it could look mean with a little suspension, body, and paint work. . .

Backwoods racing in Midland is an awsome machine shop. They do alot of circle track stuff and I've seen them make 422 hp on a sbc with a 500 cfm 2 bbl holley. Really nice guys too.
