Gauging Interest: 305 and 700r4

Me and my friend are swapping out a 305 and 700r4 from his 89 Chevy Truck. The 305 TBI ran but it had a computer issue dealing with fuel. I believe the engine is fine but the other computer issues were causing it to not run. He decided just to go with an older carbed 305. The 700r4 did not shift into gear consistantly. I have rode in the truck before and the trans was just starting to act up. Maybe the trans is salvagable or maybe it needs a rebuild.

$250 OBO for the engine and trans. We are pulling it later this week

FYI fuel issues with those TBI trucks are typically the fuel pump. theres not much else fuel related to go wrong. been there done that... just dont want you to do an engine swap and still have the same problem. dropping the tank or pulling the bed to get to it is a real treat too.

Not my truck, I honestly wouldn't put another engine in that truck b/c the body is SHOT.

So you think it's a fuel pump? The plugs are soaked in fuel (it does get spark tho)

I'm not familiar with what he has tested and whatnot. He goes to auto-tech/engine building classes so I'm taking it he has already looked into it.

At least I hope so before we swap the engine out lol

I never had a fuel pump problem in my truck but i know my cusions been threw 2 and my ex's step dad went threw 3.
