I have a 283 engine that I had in my old 67 Chevy C10, and it was rebuilt and has less than 15K miles on the rebuild. I ended up getting another old truck and pulled the engine to put in the new 69 Chevy truck, but ended up trading that truck for my TA, so now I have an engine I really dont need. I didnt do the rebuild but what I know about it is the following:
Bored 30 over
new pistons, rings, over size cam, lifters, pushrods, timing chain, oil pump, all bearings, and freeze plugs
Main journals line honed
Rods resized
New crank
Heads rebuilt with better springs for cam
I had an edelbrock performer intake and 600 carb on it with long tubes, unfortunately the engine was never dyno'd but when I had it in my 67 Chevy C10 w/400 auto, the truck was faster than my 90 305 tbi bird w/5 speed which was running 15.6 1/4 mile at that time. Without knowing for certain I'd say it had around 300hp or so. This would be a great engine for someone with an old truck or a jeep, or someone that just wants something decent to throw in a bird or camaro to replace a sixer.
If anyone is interested I'd like to get $400 or trade for Lt1 parts
