  • FS: sbc headers $60 obo(new)

I have a NEW set of flowtech shorty style headers that I originally bought for my 90 bird but never installed, now I am going with an LT1 and cant use them, so I need to sell them.

    They are 1 1/2 primary, 2 1/2 collector
I stripped the factory black paint off and re-painted them with that VHT flame series orange paint which I think was rated to 2100 degrees or something like that. I also baked them in over cycled up to 550 degrees. they have sat around for over a year so I hope someone can use em'

They obviously arent the greatest thing in the world but certainly better than stock manifolds and at $60, your paying 1/2 price or less. They are between $120 and 140 new. Plus I used two entire cans of paint on them, that good for another 10 bucks cost.

I've attached a few pics, if your curious about why the color is a bit different in the last pic, its because I took a pic of the headers with one heat cycle baked and the other hadnt been baked yet. The darker one was after baked.

Yes I believe they will work on TPI 305, and also on 350's too. I dont see why the TPI would be much different than TBI or carb as far as headers go. I believe these will fit any V8 third gen Bird. And I was told by someone that they used their stock y-pipe, but according to flowtech and parts store their is a flowtech y-pipe for like 100 bucks thats supposed to be used. I didnt buy it cause I was going to custom fab my own exhaust from headers back to intermediate pipe.

And the paint I used on them, was the highest heat paint I could find and had to order it cause nobody carried it around here. It was supposed to be orange, I think I still have another can of it somewhere, but its the ceramic kind. I didnt think the paint would turn out as well as it did, I just took my time and sprayed thin coats with about 30 minutes between each coat, and probably 5 coats which was the entire can on each header. I wish the color would have stayed orange, but after heat cycling them in the over according to the directions the paint seems to turn more of a red color.

Here is a pic that I took today. I think the one header could have used a bit more time in the over cause its not quite as dark as the other, but they still look great. And if I find that extra can of paint, I'll send it along.

I did find the extra can of paint and now that I remember, this was a can I found at autozone and was the same brand and all as what I used but was 200 degree's less than the stuff I used and I'm not sure why VHT did that but it was the exact same brand and model, just a less heat rating, so I included a pic of it so you know what I used, just the stuff I used was 200 degrees hotter paint.

And since I forgot to say, they also come with the collectors, mounting hardware, and gaskets.
