  • 1998 Camaro Z28 A4 deal or no deal?

Right now, Berger Chevrolet has a 1998 Z28, black on grey cloth, A4, power everything, 35,000 miles and they're asking $11,900. I'm thinking about selling my Dodge Ram for the Z and this seems like a very good deal on the Camaro, what does everyone think?

I looked it over pretty well and I only saw a few scuff marks around the gas cap. Even the front chin was free of curb rash so I believe them about it never being driven in the winter and it being the guys "weekend" car. I would have driven the car but it had run out of gas and they couldn't get it started....maybe today.

I didn't think it was that great of a deal. 98's are kind of the bastard years and are a bit harder to mod because of a few differences with the motor. There's a nice 99 Z out in Muskegon with 63K for $8K. I didn't go look at it but was tempted to buy it instead of the V6 I just picked up. For what Berger's asking you should be able to find a better car if you shop around.

i saw it in person too, didnt look like anything special... cloth and silver 16s, but really not a bad price from a dealer.

I agree it's nothing special, but with black GS ZR1's, a lowering kit and the chambered exhaust from my 89 T/A it'd be a sweet daily driver. My fast toy is the 89 so I need a reliable daily driver - like a GM with 35k miles. The fact that it's a Z28 just makes it more fun!

The salesman called me back with the report on why it wouldn't run - burnt fuel pump. One of the other used car sales people drove it for a week and I'm pretty sure he beat the tar out of it.

beating on it wont burn a fuel pump up. running it out of gas will.

If it's only got 35K and burnt up a fuel pump I wouldn't want to mess with it. Who knows what's next on the list of things to go.

Joel, It had chrome 5 spoke 16's on it, not silver. The chrome wasn't that great and didn't look like they had been kept very clean. I don't think I would even go 9K on that car. You can find 01 or 02 Z's with around 60K for around $12-15K and they have the LS6 intake already.

Yeah...like I said, the chrome wasn't very clean and looked like it was bubbling as well.
