If my credit didn't suck, I would totally have this car. I'm starting to save up for a new car, I'm hoping to land a 96+ F-Body vert, V6 or V8, doesn't really matter to me. . . A V8 would be fun, and with only PLPD, the insurance wouldn't be killer like I thought it would be. Woah! I'm a poet and didn't even realize the fact!

              92 Gta

Travis after class on Thursday I will let you check out my GTA. The interior is still in great condition the body has a few rust spots but the right person could fix my car up fairly easily. It would be an amazing project car and if I don't sell it by May when I leave for Wisconsin I told myself that I would keep it and save up to for the repairs. I know if I do sell it that will be one sad day. I have had this car for so long and I baby the shit out of it but I will have another F-body in the future.

This is actually my favorite model year. And this particular car I think is better than the early 4th gens. In fact this car should be faster than the pre-96 4th gens, especially with a few cheap bolt on mods.

Man if I hadnt already struck a deal on a T/A, I would be all over this trying to get it. Whoever buys this car is gonna be one lucky sob.

There is a few rust spots and scratches, but overall it would be a great project car for someone. The inside is just fine. That is why I am asking 2500 for the car.

it would be quick, but its not gonna be beating LT1s. Put a real intake on an L98 though (not a bolt on), then there would be a race.

checked it out today, yea a few rust spots and such, but with a little money the body would look really sharp again. Interior is black leather, none of that cloth crap seats

                          A 92 GTA has 245hp@4400 and 345tq@3200 with a 3.23 gear
                          A 93-95 TransAm has 275hp@5200 and 325tq@2400 with a 3.23 gear

With both having auto trans and 3.23 gears, and the curb weight of the 92 being about 185 lbs less (92=3125, 93=3310) Do you really think the 30 extra hp is gonna make the 4th gen faster? Sorry but with drag racing the torque and weight is key, and in this comparison the 92 has the edge. I'm not saying the hp isnt important but I would say that the 92 would win with equal drivers and equal conditions met. And especially so with slight mods. I'm not saying that the 4th gen Lt1 is a bad engine, cause I believe its capable of much more than the L98 when modded. But stock for stock I will take the L98 92 GTA.

Id like to see these two cars race, I would bet money that they are just about even or the 92 would win by a small amount.

Im not i will be paying them back for it if anything and its kinda hard to find a job seein that i have heart probs and i need to take off for surgerys and stuff so i just work on the weekends for now till i can find something

yes, i do and no it doesnt. Ive raced a stock (and even low mile one - 30k) 1989 iroc L98 before when my LT1 was stock and I had no trouble with it. He got me on the launch, as an auto with more torque should have, and i reeled him right back by about 60-70.

unfortunately this is the only L98 time i could find:

                              1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z L98 6.8 15.3

                              vs

                              1995 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 5.7 14.2

thats an easy full second difference regardless of what numbers the engines are making From my experience L98s fall on their face in the high RPMs, which is where youre going to be when racing. Look at what rpm it makes the numbers you posted. Youre never going to be down at 3200 rpm during a race unless youve got a really tall gear. Theyve got enough down-low torque to pull a small house off its foundation though. The log-style manifolds and factory intake manifold choke that motor up top big time. An LT1's torque peaks way down low too, but it also carries it out alot higher than the L98 will.... close to about 4500 before you feel it falling off. LT1 intakes are not a restriction at all, people dont even bother porting them until they are making over 400hp. ultimately the blocks are pretty similar less the intake.

Like i said before though, fix those two choke points and youre going to be in LT1 territory, no doubt about it.

that sounds great this is an everyday driving car and runs great. But I want you to understand that you are going to need to put some money into the body work. This car could potentiall be worth a good chunk of change someday if it was placed in the hands of someone that knew what to do with it. This is a project or investment car. Enough said just get ahold of me.
