  • Friend selling 2009 G8 GT

Hey everybody, one of my best friends from MSU is trying to sell his gorgeous 2009 G8 GT.

Up for sale is my magnetic grey metallic 2009 Pontiac G8 GT. The car was optioned with the sport package and a sunroof, and has all of the standard GT features such as power adjustable heated seats, leather interior, automatic dual zone climate control, Blaupunkt stereo system with satellite radio, Onstar, a 6.0L V8, and a six speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode.

The car has been tastefully modified. Mods include:
    -Vararam air intake
    -Custom Magnaflow catback exhaust
-Vector Motorsports (VMS) engine and trans tune
-Camaro SS 20" staggered wheels with Pontiac center caps
    -H&R Sport lowering springs
    -GXP front bumper
-DDM Tuning slim ballast 55W HIDs with 5k bulbs
-LED fog lights and license plate lights
-Holden black window trim and body matched door handles (OEM parts from Australia, not painted US spec parts)
-20% tint all the way around
    -Aluminum paddle shifters (fully functional)
-Extended wheel studs and black Monster Lug open ended lug nuts
-Four piston Brembo brakes on all four corners (same calipers as used on the 1st generation CTS-V)
-Russell Performance DOT-approved stainless steel braided brake lines
-Infinity door speakers and Kicker rear deck open-air subs (still new in box but can be installed if the sale price is right)

Also included are a set of 18" wheels with snow tires (two have good tread, two are low), and four extra snow tires (with varying amounts of tread). You can see them in the last three pictures.

The car has 87,165 miles, but it is my daily driver, so that will go up. All maintenance is current. The car has always run Mobil 1 full synthetic oil. The interior is in amazing shape with minimal wear. The paint is in great shape overall, with a few expected issues given the mileage.

The car received a new cam and the updated lifters from the dealer in early April (one of the original lifters failed, which is the only problem I've ever had with the car) and, as such, has a 12 month, unlimited mileage transferable warranty on the replaced systems.

This car has been my daily driver for about two years and I've loved every minute of it, but it's time for me to move on to something smaller. My asking price is $19,800 or best offer. The only trades I'm interested in at the moment would be motorcycles (sport bikes or vintage stuff) plus cash. The car has a clean title and two keys.

Feel free to email, call, or text me if you're interested. Higher resolution images are available upon request. Thanks!

This car is awesome, I hate to see my friend sell it, but he wants something less practical and is dead-set on a Porsche 911 Either contact him directly through Craigslist, or I can put you in touch with him. Tell him that I sent you his way

Eh, it's Jalopnik...not exactly known for their credibility...

And an awful lot of '90s German autos are ticking time bombs, whether it's a Porsche or a Benz...

My dad's 1986 Porche 944 was the biggest piece of engineering garbage I've ever seen.

Yep, buddy of mine has his 944 non-turbo in for work, and he's over $4K already...and the engine hasn't even come out...

Had another buddy who once had a 92ish 911 Carerra 4S...he sold it when he saw what the 100K service was going to cost him...

                  No...thank...you.

Replacing the thermostat took my dad and I like 3-4 days just to get to the damn thing.

Debatable. However, none of those other cars have a flat 6 in the trunk that require the engine to come out for most services. Don't get me started on the clutch slave cylinder removal.

Jalopnik didn't even mention many of the major, major flaws of this engine.

Don't worry, I've tried (and unfortunately failed) to talk him out of getting the Porsche. As have several other people.

                        Anyway... Somebody buy the G8!

Then he hasn't seen the ~$5000 repair bill my friend just racked up when the spark plug bore cracked and allowed coolant and oil to mix. That was doing it ourselves and salvaging that head.

Curious to see what he actually gets for it.

Almost $20K for 90K miles...knew they held their value but...damn...

Might be time to cut 'er loose...

I don't think he quite expects to get that much for it. He's going more for the "you can always go down in price, but you can never go back up" thing. If you're interested, don't be afraid to shoot him an offer!
