  • 1967 Lincoln Continental - project car $5K obo

Posting this up for a good buddy of mine, he's local (metro Detroit). I'd appreciate it if you guys could pass this around, he really wants it gone. I've also included the original MotownMuscle link: http://www.motownmuscle.com/forums/s...ect-car-5K-obo

Car looks white, but is actually a very light green (called Cameo Green).

Well, putting the project car up for sale. I'll try to be as descriptive as possible and have included a few pictures. Long story short, I just put the car back together a month or so ago and the car is still not running. I don't have the time to keep throwing at this thing and am looking to free up some space in the garage. Here's a run down of what I did:
    - refurbished heads
    - new timing set (chain and gears)
    - new pushrods
    - refurbished fuel pump
    - refurbished carb
    - all new gaskets

Long story long, I acquired the car about 5 years ago. It had sat for a number of years here in MI in outdoor storage (was never driven here). The car was originally an AZ car and it's DAMN solid. There's surface rust where the vinyl top used to reside - outside of that, it's clean and there are no holes. I got the car running, but quickly found out I had a few stuck valves and thus bent pushrods. I tore into the engine and decided to do some maintenance - replace the nylon-coated timing gear, and get the heads refurbed with new valve guides/seals in order to run unleaded fuel. I finally got the car all put back together around the beginning of this year to realize I wasn't getting fuel. Then sent the mechanical fuel pump out and it was refurbished and operating great.....so great even, that the carb starting blowing fuel all over the place. So, I then sent the carb out for a professional rebuild as well.

As the car sits, it still seems to be leaking fuel and the timing may need some adjusting. I have not gotten the car to fire since I put it back together - it's been damn close, but I've literally given up on it. I have also noticed that the trans seems to be leaking, as there's a small puddle under where it's sat for the last 5 years in the garage. After the carb/timing is sorted out, I would blow out the fuel lines and drop the gas tank to clean the gunk out from sitting so long. It's a project car and will need attention - but, when it's all said and done, it'll be badass cruiser. You really don't see a lot of them out on the road, and the car will never go out of style. It's still a highly-desirable car, even in its current state.

I'm asking $5K or best offer and I would consider myself a motivated seller.

    -Joe

Fixed. You had to be a member of Motown Muscle to be able to see the photos. I'm a member so it was working for me.

For this thing, you definitely need a lot more garage!

He's replacing it with a really nice '61 Deville.

That thing is pretty rough for the asking price. I'd love to have it, but you'd easily sink 15 grand and hundreds of hours into it to make it right. cool patina though!

Price is 5,000 or best offer and he's motivated to get rid of it. Throw him an offer!

Let mobsteel know it's avail. Maybe they would be interested? My brother built a custom one and owns an original restored one himself. They just don't make cars like these anymore.

                          He's notified Mobsteel, no response.

He's got it down to $4500 on CL, and I know he'd take $4k for it. He's not desperate to sell, but would love to see it go as it takes up quite some real estate in his garage....and he just picked up a '61 DeVille. His garage is packed with both!
