Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Good price for all the maintenance that's been done. Can't wait to get mine in the snow. Just curious, when the valve got bent, did it sound like a ticking noise? I've had a tick that follows engine speed since I bought mine, now I'm wondering if mine has a bent valve. Also not seeing the MPG these usually get...You can PM me.

You shouldn't have a bent valve. The timing belt has to come off to do the waterpump so somebody probably timed it wrong when they put it back together. As long as the timing belt didn't snap or anything you should be ok. These motors also just make a lot of noise, it's normal for them to have a ticking noise audible with the hood open.

Bingo. It won't ease into a bend, it will either bend or not. The mechanic who did the job for the previous owner did everything wrong in putting it back together and it resulted in the timing being off by a few teeth resulting in a bent intake valve.
And yes, these engines make some "clatter." My 09 is noisy and there are tons of threads on audizine of others with B8's asking if the engine noise is normal. The consensus is that it's normal. These are just noisy motors.
I guess I should make a video, because my ticking noise is NOT normal. My friend has an a4 and his doesn't make noise like mine does. One of my co-workers asked if it was a turbo diesel, its a loud tick...

Could be an exhaust leak, bad lifter, or a spun rod bearing.
