  • Gauging interest: 2000 Trans Am LS1 Auto, possible TRADE

Ok, so my wife is seriously considering buying Nick's Formula, since she likes the styling of the LT cars better. When I bought my 79, she got my 2000. It has about 130K miles, runs great, automatic. Everything works with the exception of the turn signals and 1 speaker, which I will be trying to sort those out this weekend. No leaks, though on cold mornings it sometimes has a little bit of tap for about 30 seconds, then its gone. Needs a paint job, and some interior work. one very small dent on the passenger side rear, hard to notice unless you are looking for it. One "eyelid" needs to be replaced. Headlights work up and down, though the drivers side grinds on the downside. So what am I looking for? Ideally, I would like to swap it for a V6 Firebird, just to improve my mileage a bit, and so I'm not driving an LS1 car in the winter, which would be a shame because this one is essentially rust free. Obviously, it probably wouldn't be an EVEN swap, I'm crazy, but not insane. I'll throw up some pics later. Cash I would be looking in the $4k range, maybe slightly less depending on whether I send the rims with it, or put the stockers back on.

thats a crack head deal if i ever seen one! someone better jump on it

IMO. i think u should sell it off and buy what you want you would have money to put into your next car also...

v6's are not amazingly better on gas btw.

I've got my 95 formula with a 6 speed. Looks just like the v6 of its time.
          I'll gladly do that swap.

True points. However, there is also a secondary point to my madness. The car deserves better than being a DD that is inevitably going to rack up miles and degrade, since all of my efforts (and cash!) for quite some time will be directed at the 79. I would much rather run a V6 firebird into the ground than an LS1 Trans Am, if you see what I mean. Ditto for a Formula. I might reconsider later, but for now, really looking for a V6 that I just won't care as much about driving to death.
Selling it outright and buying one is always an option. I'm waiting until Tuesday when the wife inspects Nicks car and decides whether or not she wants to jump on it. Then I will throw up a true for sale/ for trade thread.

It would be 4k cash, or comparable trade + cash. Here are some pics of it:
