i can speak both for and against jasen on this one. even at $900 someone will get their moneys worth out of this truck. I drove a 92 with a 350 for 3 years, and at 200k it still started and drove like it was brand new... and I got that exact compliment on it all the time. I could let go of the steering wheel for a mile on the highway and it never had an alignment ever. many a jaw dropped when they saw my odometer. I would have had zero fear driving it to california and back with 200,000 on original everything minus normal wear parts. I didnt show it any mercy... i trailered all the time and I even drag raced many of my friends cars and it usually won. mine had perfect body and paint (this one clearly doesnt) minus the defective cab corners of that era and it still was probably only worth 1500. I loved that thing, hopefully someday Ill get the chance to restore one since mine got shot down before I was able to do what i wanted with it.
in my opinion that body style/generation of truck is the best GM has ever produced, and ever will. Therefore I think theyre the best trucks you can buy. They were still made of metal and have big chrome bumpers to run things down with, yet were still refined enough to impress people, even today. That along with the fact that they go FOREVER. not a doubt in my mind i could have gotten 350k on my old one. I absolutely love my 98 Z71 i have now, I couldnt imagine having any other kind of truck.Last edited by JoeliusZ28; November 5th, 2006, 03:40 PM.-Joel

im getting a 1990 extended cab for 300 bucks from my friend when he goes back into the service here next week just 2wd still good condition little rust good corners all it needs is a fuel pump which my other friend has and is giving to me... they do last forever same with the old conversion vans that TBI motor might not have alot of balls but they go forever if you keep them up... he had over 260,000 on his van before he had a run in with a coke semi truck... then the enigne was in the passenger seat cracked if it wasnt for that im sure it would have gone foreverOriginally posted by Frank The TankTook the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon a little more juice. But it's not exactly street legal, so keep it on the down low.

the fuel pump is kind of a ***** to replace, i swapped my original out right before it got totalled. you gotta drop the tank.Originally posted by wezelesim getting a 1990 extended cab for 300 bucks from my friend when he goes back into the service here next week just 2wd still good condition little rust good corners all it needs is a fuel pump which my other friend has and is giving to me... they do last forever same with the old conversion vans that TBI motor might not have alot of balls but they go forever if you keep them up... he had over 260,000 on his van before he had a run in with a coke semi truck... then the enigne was in the passenger seat cracked if it wasnt for that im sure it would have gone forever
I tried to start mine after THIS happened. If the steering column hadnt been twisted beyond use, I would have wagered $100 that it would have turn key started right up. my battery connections were still good in the brunt of the impact.-Joel

well the nice thing is my buddy has the same truck that we tossed a carbed 350 into so im just taking his hole tank he doesnt need the internal fuel pump... acctually probably hurts having it there so we are just droping his tank poping it into the one im getting then tossing mine in his without the fuel pump... but they are nice trucks and there is a reason why you still see tones of them on the road...Originally posted by Frank The TankTook the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon a little more juice. Hey Joel, thanks for the vote of confidence and for backing me up. I'm sorry you guys apparently don't feel its worth what I am asking. I've looked up the book, its $1300 in fair condition, which I believe it is according to KBB.com's definition. Poor would be bearly running with major mechanical problems. So at $900 I feel justified in that alone with my price.
Let alone the fact that I know how this truck has been treated since day one and having spent a few hundred $$$ on parts right before I parked it I would not hesitate to check the fluids and the air in the tires and drive this truck across the state, load it up with something and drive it back. I also wouldn't hesistate to drive it back and forth to work 100 miles a day, but thats the whole AND ONLY reason I parked it, with gas prices the payment and insurance on my cavalier with insurance on top and gas is cheaper than driving a truck like this over 500 miles a week. However, for anyone that doesn't drive to far or needs a good spare truck/hauler, this is a great truck and I believe its well worth the money.
With all that said I encourage anyone that is seriously interested and has cash to make arrangements to come look at and drive the truck as I'm sure you'll see what I mean when you do.

no prob jasen, but like many are saying... you probably wont get what you want for it. I wouldnt have gotten anywhere close to what insurance paid me for mine if i had tried to sell it.-Joel

Word of advice DON'T drop the tank. Remove the box, less chance of ending up with a leak when your done. Not to mention it is much easier to stand up and change the pump then to lay on the ground and drop the tank. ive already dropped the tank on his before they arnt that bad... and i think from 88 on its plastic tanks... pretty dummy proof quick disconnects on the lines and everything and there is a good foot or more of slack for it all... just takes two jacks and alot of wd40 to get it off...Originally posted by Frank The TankTook the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon a little more juice.
