    I dunno. 1300 with a completely bare engine bay, and a pretty rough interior seems awful steep for a third gen. I'm thinking this is like a 5-8 hundred car.

      I agree. . . You can get a running/driving 3rd gen for only a few hundred more, why buy a roller?

          It has a floor that is rotting out, a few dents and looks like the clear coat is in rough shape. Could be bad pictures though.

            yea the price on this car is a bit steep, it is definitely in the 500-800 range if that

              Actually, you can. My 4th gen is in excellent condition, and while it needs some work, it's still a complete car, and I only spent $2k on it. That's less than $700 more than this guy wants for a roller, that is in worse shape than the 3rd gen T/A that Mike just sold for $450, which was also a complete car. His wasn't running/driving, but it was complete, and new engine bearings and gaskets would have solved the engine issue.

                Just because you found a fourth gen for a good price does not mean you can find any good condition complete car for a "couple hundred more" Find me one that you know is solid and in good shape and complete. I agree this guy is high on the price but I do not agree that you can find a complete running solid car for $2k or less. I paid more then $2K for mine just last year and looked high and low for a solid running car. With that said there are always exceptions (your car could be one) but your defintion of solid and complete probably differs from mine as well from the next guy. But just like Jentry stated in his cousins car thread its the hobby people that devalue these cars.

                BTW Mikes car is worth just $450 maybe a little more (maybe) and it needs a lot more then you claim, I know exactly what that car needs and I have been in and out of that car and your simple fix on that 305 would not get it running. Also in my book that car isnt all that solid, granted its a great buy at $450 and I even offered more then that to the previous owner when I tried to buy it, much more then that actually.

                  Which is why that is where it was priced, as this one should have been. No, a simple fix on the 305 WOULDN'T get it running, at a minimum it would still need brakes and an exhaust. But I would bet you could get it on the road for cheaper than you could get this roller on the road.

                  For the record, in the last five years I have bought THREE running third gens for $600 (Maroon car, had underbody rust but was a five speed and ran like a raped ape), $800 for a red and silver almost rust free 86 that I sold to a friends son and is still on the road, and $1000 for a black one that ran but had a strange hesitation problem I never did figure out. No third gen roller without EXTENSIVE suspension work is worth what this guy is asking.

                    I agree with Darren. I looked for a long time for a clean car before I found mine. Yeah they can be found for 2 grand and under, but most of the time your buying someones basket case. I figured that I could find a solid car for 2k. I found one in 6 months of looking that was solid enough and it didn't have a motor or trans. 4th gens can be had for that kind of money too, but again unless planning on patching a bunch of rust your going to be spending some more money. Its all about finding the right deal at the right time. Every time I looked there were no deals to be had. Big money for junk! I drove down south to buy.

                      I have my eye on a 87 Iroc, almost perfect condition, but blown (383 or 406) motor. Near flawless red paint, TT2's, Corbeau seats, built trans and rear, etc - Currently wants 5 grand for it.

                      Bought my 89 IROC convert for $2500, which was sitting on $1600 wheels.

                        Exactly finally someone that has a good definition of a solid car. I looked all over for mine and paid what I thought a steal for it. Solid, complete ran well and everything I wanted (almost) thirdgens for less than $1000 are usually not solid. There are rare buys tho.

                          Yep, I think this is a case of where we are both saying the same thing, but in a different way. They CAN be found for the kind of money Nick was saying ($1500-2k) but you have to search for them, and they usually have one problem or another. Of course, I would rather fix a couple of problems than install a complete drivetrain, wiring harness, and cooling system from scratch.
