Here is the email I received from the seller:

Thank you so much for taking the time to bring this to my attention. Since receiving your email I have done further research and found what you said to be absolutely correct. The sad thing is that the GM dealership passed it off in 2004 as a WS6 when they sold it to the second owner. I have made an addendum to the listing to help clarify that the upgrades are not factory upgrades. It has received a lot of nice upgrades. However, knowing now that they came after it left the factory, I have made sure that it is in the listing. Before this email, I had no clue. Thank you for the kind email to let me know. I am glad to have found this out early on in the listing. I will inform all who have bid of what I have learned too. Have a wonderful afternoon and thank you again. God bless. Matt

It's a good question, but personally I think it's the VIN.

My question is why the WS6 is so important to everyone. I know a handful of people on the site that when they were searching for their next FBody they were devout that it had to be a WS6, but yet they were going to mod it to have better performance and suspension than the WS6. So what's the point in being dead set on getting a WS6 and passing up really clean Trans Ams?

Personally, I was thrilled when I found my non-WS6 TA with the US Exotics WS9 hood. It was perfect for me, because the hood was the only part of a WS6 I planned on keeping. All of the suspension, wheels, paint, etc. was completely re done after I got it.

If you plan to moderately modify the car, save yourself an extra grand or two and buy a Trans Am, then put that money towards modifications.

Oh and I completely debaged and de-molded my car... Looks like the designers meant it to be, before the upper management made them add body side moldings and badges.

definately the VIN, just look at any barrett jackson auction. Even original cars with less desirable options will sell for way more than cars modified through the teeth with all the cool parts.. just doesn't give it any value.
