    All you have to do is pull the fuse and the they stay up and you can still use the headlights, no need to cut wires.

            coming from a gm trans tech reverse is more then likely syncro,s an blocking ring very very common not to costly most can have it done for about $450 parts an labor takes about 45 minutes inless you need the gear then your talkin about 900$ or so... an a t56 grinding IS another very common thing but most are just the blocking rings but also pretty labor costly parts are about 350$ 1-2 3-4 syncro an blocking rings labor is the the killer. price does seem a little out of wack for possibly needing 1000$ in trans repairs
