I got an 05 Malibu for DD duty, it's been treating me pretty well. I know of a junkyard with a set of heads for $100 for the pair, I'm probably going to go get them as soon as we get some decent weather, since I have to pull them myself. I'm not sure when it will be back up and running, but I'm making decent money now, so I can't use finances as an excuse anymore.

Glad to hear you're keeping the car.. Memories are hard to let go of. So about the rims.. everyone talks shit until it's time to pay for something, then it's "i don't know man, i'd like to buy them but..." when up to this point the dude has always said "find me some wheels under 500.00 and they're mine!" Twice now he's let me down so F*** him. Sorry bout the language but that stuff just irritates the hell out of me. But I would like the stand. What kind is it, would it fit my 07 GSXR(the one in my pic), and how much??

I'm pretty sure it's actually a Suzuki branded stand, I got it when I had my '01 GSXR, so I'm pretty sure it'll work. If you want, I can bring it by on my way to work or something and you can make sure it works on your bike. I don't know what you want to pay for it, does $30 sound fair?

Thanks, Brian. I plan on buying the new heads when the weather starts getting better, I'm starting to put money away so I can get parts ordered. Hopefully we'll see some progress this year.

                      • Anybody know of any decent local machine shops that could handle a port/polish and valve job on a set of stock casting LT1 heads?

I am glad you are keeping the car. You made the right choice imo. Now we can fix it up. I hear Cultice is still in business, you might have better luck than I did with them. Yoy should come out to Battle Creek with me when I go to get parts, Chris has several cars you could get parts off of.

I miss those summer nights in the driveway working on the cars and listening to your dad tell stories of his wilder days on Woodward. RIP Jay.

                            You and I both.

I'm working on building up a decent "Rainy Day Fund" to dump some money into this car later this year, so far I've put away about $1,000 in just under a month, I'm hoping to have a few thousand more to get the car back into good condition, so I can start working on getting it ready for the next phase of it's life.

If anyone is interested, I'm still considering selling the 'vette rims to go with something lighter weight (17x8-9" all around). If anyone has something they'd like to trade, let me know. Otherwise, PM me, and we can discuss prices.

Not cross-country or anything, but I'll admit I live quite a distance from the bulk of the big performance shops. Not looking to dump too much cash into a set of junkyard heads, but I'll have them checked out before I make the trip. Maybe 2 hours? I live in Adrian, so that would put me in the Detroit area. Willing to travel a bit further than that though, assuming the price is right and they have a good reputation.
