  • 1995 Chevy camaro

I have a hard top Camaro up for sale. It has 160,xxx miles, v6, auto trans. The engine runs great. Needs trans work. I was drivin home doin 55-60 mph then the speedometer went out then the over drive. I drove it to the grocery store a few times since then. Reverse works fine. Shifts from 1st to 3rd and that's it. It has power windows, mirrors, cd player, decent tires, Crap ass salad shooter wheels. Good glass. Flow master muffler with dual outlets. Has good heat, A/C works but needs to be charged. Has a crack in the passenger side of the bumper by the turn signal, the passenger side of the header panel and passenger headlight is broke. $1000 OBO Make a offer. Might consider trade for another car.

The speedometer and overdrive doesn't work because there's a problem with the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). A lot of times the wire corrodes and breaks. Or it could be the sensor itself. I had a broken wire going to the VSS when I did my LT1 swap so I know that problem inside and out. Easy fix, though, the plug is on the tailshaft of the transmission on the driver side before the driveshaft. Goodluck with the sale anyway - it's a real easy fix for whoever buys the car!

It's a 3.4 v6. I replaced the speed sensor the other day. There is no corossion on the plug or the wires. Before the problem, it did not slip, jerk or anything. No warning signs at all and the fluid is pink.

Are you throwing any SES lgihts? Trust me - if the speedometer and overdrive aren't working, it's the speed sensor. It might be a broken wire somewhere in the wire going from the PCM to the VSS. Mine was a few inches away from the VSS plug and you couldn't tell until you pulled the insulation away.

I need to stay away from all this old shit LOL, time to start getting things 2000 or newer. I've heard alot of good and bad things about LT1's..."Bad beign opti's"..................Might wait till tax time n shop around for a LS1 trans am, or maybe get financed and put down a nice down payment for a 2010 maro.
