  • Selling my IROC

Well, I think it's time I try to get rid of my Camaro, it's hard to do, but it needs to be done.

I figure I'll throw it up on here first, maybe I'll get someone who wants it instead of some weirdo on Craigslist...

For those who don't know what happened to the vehicle, it was parked on the side of a street when some good for nothing drunk driver ran into it. The left rear subframe (right at the LCA front mount) is pushed down and forward a few inches, the quarter is crunched in the lower front corner, the door is dented in, the door and main gfx pieces have damage to them, the left rear axle is bent, the front left tie-rod end is a banana, and the left mirror is messed up. That sums up the damage caused by the drunk driver. Totally fixable with lots of TLC and hard work. The inner quarter on the left side is rusted out toward the bottom, and that would need to be replaced in order to pull the frame.

The rest of the car is very clean, even the floorboards are rust free, and mostly undercoated. There's tiny spots of surface rust in the usual spot, right in front of the rear tire, on the quarter panel, a little bit in the spare tire well, and under the battery tray. Also, the t-top center bar is rusted out, and thus the t-tops leak (just replaced the seals a couple years ago, so those are good).

The car also has a clean title, since it was not totaled by the insurance company.

Enough of the bad, here's what's still good

The car still runs just fine, just started it up about a month ago, the car fired right up after a few seconds of cranking and didn't even want to die. Idled perfectly.

    It has a LB9 305 TPI V8 with a 700-R4 4-speed automatic transmission.
    Edelbrock TES Mid-length headers with a 3" y-pipe
    3" DMH Electric cutout
    Flo-Pro Rear Muffler
    Hypertech Thermomaster chip
Smog Pump/AIR and Cat have been removed
    Pilot fog lights
Taylor 8mm Spiro-Pro spark plug wires
    New T-Top weatherstripping
    BBK 67 gph fuel pump
Falken ZIEX-512B 245/50 R16 tires (left rear is cut from accident)
    Tinted windows

Interior is in pretty good shape, has the 145 mph speedometer, and the decently rare roof console, complete with manual trip odometer, map lights, flash light.

The car has about 101k on the clock (not sure exactly, because the odometer conviniently stopped working at about 99,990k miles), cap and rotor were changed at about 98k, and the car had the oil changed a few days before it got hit.

I want about $1200 for it, which might seem high, but considering it's fixable, has lots of good parts (should you choose to part it out), and a clean title, isn't too bad for a car with a full interior, working drivetrain, and performance parts. I'm NOT parting out, so don't ask prices of specific parts. And don't post in here telling me I want too much, because it won't help matters. If you feel the need to do so anyways, please refrain.

All right, I have an absolute metric shit ton of pictures that I hope can display what's up with the vehicle, but going to get random pictures for people probably won't happen, because my car is in Da Hood (Darren can attest to that).

Attached are the most recent pictures of the car, but here is a link to all the pictures I have online:

If you or anyone you know are interested in the vehicle, shoot me a PM.

    Thanks!

Hope you find a good MiFBody home for it -- I sure wish I had room for it!

Great luck to you Kyle, I hope someone here gets it and is able to get a shell or part it into something that will do it justice. I wish this was closer to next year cause then I would be able to at least do some math on money, but as for now, nothing in the cards my friend..

You should throw some pictures up of how it looked right before the accident Kyle, these pics don't show just how clean and well kept it was.

I can vouch for this car, although I did not see it in its prime I did go down there with Kyle to take a look at it and pull some things outta it with him one day a while back. The car to my surprise started right up after we hooked up my battery, ran great, idled fine and sound good. No ticks, knocks noises nothing... I have told Kyle many times if I had the place this car would be sold, hell if I had my own place this would be the first piece of furniture.

Anyone looking for a reliable drive train to throw in a roller or a fun project for someone with a little talent, this car could be saved.

Before I even knew you or the MiFBody site, I remember going to Ray's with some friends and seeing this IROC parked right out front. It was instant nostalgia and lust for me, bringing back great memories of my old blue 1985 IROC-Z with the carbed 305 and 5-speed. Good times! I couldn't pull myself away from this car, and had to make several circles around it -- everybody else had cones in their hands before I even went inside! Guess the IROC must've had the same effect on a bunch of other guys, 'cause there was a ring of melted ice cream on the ground, all the way around the car. It was a sad day for me to hear it was hit.

This car is a pretty solid, pretty straight original in a not-too-common color combo. This is a bargain for the guy who has the time and the room but not the budget. This IROC deserves to be saved!

Wow, that's always a hard decision to make. You get attached to your car after working on it and driving it for so long. But I hope it all works out for the best and it finds a great home, and you can get yourself a great new car! You are still representing, no matter what.

Man every time I see pics of your car in its prime, I droll. What a shame to have it in this shape and have to sell.
