  • For Sale: 83 Trans Am

I've had the car a few years now, hasnt been legal or driven in a couple years, I've driven it to move it and to work 30 miles each way once to work on it and thats it. Its in rough shape, but has potential in the right hands, I just cant afford the hobby anymore, and with a baby coming within the next week, its just not something I have time for right now, and we have to move and its hard to find an apartment with 4 cars. I have a 96 lt1 engine that I started to put in, and I ended up not getting it in. The car needs a floor pan on driverside, or weld in some plating, the 305 thats in it still runs and the car still goes, but the motor is worn out and needs replaced. Needs front end work. I drove it to work summer 08 and installed new front struts, shocks, 2" lowering springs, and I drove it home and its been sitting since. I also have a 3point edelbrock strut tower brace that I never put on the car. Its been in a garage for over a year.

If anyone is interested in the car and engine or either, please let me know by email at hgffrank_80@yahoo.com or call me at 517-937-9318...I am asking $700 obo for the car, $800 for the car and LT1 engine with stand, obd1 pcm, and wiring harness.

well I decided on the price based on what I know the car needs, which is alot of TLC., it needs alot, but could be a very nice car....I'm losing my butt on this one since I originally traded a 67 chevy c20 for it, always had big plans for it, but life had other plans for me...however I dont plan to be gone forever, I am hoping to get a newer TransAM with an LS1 within the next few years. I just bought a Fusion so the payments are keeping me out of the game for awhile, but I drive 130+ miles a day and its reliable and good on gas so I cant complain too much...right now I've got my Fusion, an 03 Focus, 95 Grand am, and the 83 TA, just too many cars to deal with, if I can get rid of the grand am and the TA, and get the Fusion paid off, I'd definitely find another TA, but it would be one thats in good shape to start with....just dont have time to do heavy repair on stuff anymore, not to mention I am a diesel tech so by the time I get off work, I'm just not in the mood for heavy repairs...however if someone buys the cars and wants stuff fixed, I would be happy to work out a fair deal on the repairs...helpful since I have access to an alignment rack and could set it up however wanted...at one time I had this car setup good enough that my g-meter was reading .94(.91 steady) on a curve at 80mph....I think I was sitting on the door as apposed to the seat...lol

Just so everyone knows, this is a list of what I think the TA needs to be daily drivable again...

                Engine replaced
front brake pads and rotors(probably slides too)
front tie-rods(were new few years ago but I wore them out fast)
sheet metal work on driverside floorpan(or new floor pan...that was my plan)the floor pan is not safe to drive, it busted through last time I drove it due to wideass syndrome....
                rear brake line leaks

New items with less than 50 miles on them:

Canuck Motorsports 2" lowering springs front and rear
                KYB struts and Shocks
                Refaced and recalibrated speedometer(160mph)

Car comes with the KMC Hotwheels wheels shown in pic with 245/50/16 Avon Tech M550 tires(worn)

Also going with car is the edelbrock 3 point strut tower brace(never installed) and front bumper vent panels(NIB)

Due to the original center console being in such poor shape, I put in a center console from my old 90 Firebird...

Ive had so much stuff for the car that I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but whetever I can find not already listed, will also go with car....oh yeah, I also have another rear axle that the limited slip carrier came out of with drum brakes still attached(no axle shafts...were stolen)

Jesus $800 for the engine, wiring harness, and PCM alone is a good deal...

yeah I know the prices are cheap but I didnt get into the fbody hobby to make money and with my situation I just needed to cut my losses and unload stuff. I paid $425 for the engine with the pcm and harness, then I bought misc. brackets and stuff for it, probably had over 500 into it, but its just not a good point in my life right now to have all this stuff and I dont have time to do anything and enjoy the hobby anyway, so I figured I'd sell off all my stuff and let someone else enjoy the hobby for a very good price. I only sold the stuff so cheap because this is the only place I posted it and I know most everyone on here is a true hobbiest, so I dont mind taking a lost for the team....

UPDATE: The LT1, PCM, and HARNESS are gone, Brian bought them last night, along with the set of wheels I tried to sell on here along time ago, and some brake drums

Still have the 83 TA, and all the stuff that I said goes with it....found a few more things in garage too like header stud kit, carb stud kit, edelbrock 1" carb spacer.....and I forgot until brian showed up last night that the carb I have on the TA is not the original, I got a mechanical q-jet that was tuned well to replace the crappy electronic q-jet, and the car has a high performance high voltage HEI distributor on it which probably only has a couple thousand miles on it....cant remember if I put new wires on too, but knowing me; probably.

When brian was here, I attempted to fire up the engine and it fired right up no problem, actually sounded like it wanted to go for a ride...

For those asking here are some pics I took today, remember this car has been sitting for a long time so its dirty, not to mention pics are hard to take in the garage(its raining)so they arent the best but I think they give a fairly good idea of condition. the car is 27 years old so obviously everyone can assume it needs a thourough restoration:
