Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

My understanding is that the WS6 Package is a peformance package, not an appearance package. The Ram Air hood was available as an option but not standard on WS6 cars. Then if you want to get really technical all firebirds start off as WS9 Formulas and are then outfitted from there... But all the same, it is an LS1 Trans Am with 80,000 loaded for $7,000.

your understanding is wrong. lol WS6 cars come with the factory ram air hood, 17 inch wheels, dual exhaust, slightly diffferent suspension, and a raised lower airbox to utilize ram air hood nostrils.. the car pictured there is just the basic trans am.

You got to me before I finished editing my post...
It's not that clean. I looked at it in person when I went to look at that Comp T/A. This is the same dealership. It's a pretty nice car, but I have seen nicer. Not trying to bash that dealership, but I looked around when I was there and a lot of their stuff looks better in pictures, or from the road.

even if the ws6 was only a performance package..the major component of the ws6 is the ram air. (which has played a big part in the performance options of the trans am's since the late 60's when it was introduced on the t/a's.) Why have a ram air setup under the hood with no air going to it??
the car for sale is a 4th gen car. The ws6 package is not the same for all generations of firebirds so you cant compare at 4th gen ws6 to a 3rd gen ws6. The ws6 package on the 3rd gens was mostly suspension upgrades (not ram air) and i believe (not positive) that the components in the package itself changed from year to year in the 3rd gens as well. In the 4th gens..the ws6 package (did include ram air) didnt start until 1996 and it entailed:
Ram Air hood and air intake (like that of the Firehawk)
The 1998s and up had a new hood with 2 functional intakes (right above the standard non functional nostrils)
Freer flowing exhaust system
Higher rate front springs (360 lbs/in)
Variable rate rear springs (130-180 lbs/in)
Stiffer front and rear shocks
Harder bushings
Larger diameter front anti-sway bar (32mm)
Increased cooling
17 inch wheels with 275/40ZR/17 tires
So basically...saying that all ws6's did not come with a ram air hood is correct, HOWEVER not all ws6 packages came with the ram air setup. The ws6 package that came with ram air (for example 96'-02' which would be this car)....all came with a ram air hood. you see what im getting at?
Just putting in my 2 cents. I believe the first WS6 was in 1977 or 1978. This is a suspension only package at that point. I think that the 3rd gens were also suspension and 4 wheel disc brakes with the WS6 package, not a power upgrade of any kind. In the 3rd gens you could get the WS6 package on a 305 or 350 TPI car so it was mostly about the suspension and 4 wheel discs. Chris is right though about all 4th gen cars having the ram air hood.
