Gauging Interest

I'm not sure if I really want to do this, but I'm gauging interest. I bought my 97 Trans Am a couple months ago on here and thought I would like the hydraulic clutch in the T-56. To make a long story short I have had two back surgeries and still on occasion get nerve pain down my left leg. This is the reason I sold my Mustang GT with it's 5 speed and diaphragm clutch it was just too much. Everything has been good with this car until yesterday when I had some bad pains in my left leg that made it hard to stand little off use the clutch. Luckily it went away before My cruise. Okay so long story long LOL. I'm wondering if anyone is interested in a trade for an automatic car. I prefer and LS car, but a nice LT-1 might work. The 97 has about 107,000 miles on it, but I'm not sure if it's accurate because when I got the car it had the 17" Z06 wheels and the computer had not been re calibrated. It was showing like 76 MPH at 70 so it was racking up more miles then I was actually going. I have since gone in with a Hypertech tuner and set the tire size correct. The car has pacesetter long tubes, ORY, MagnaFlow 3" , Z06 17" wheels with 275/40 ZR Falken tires, New AC Delco Plugs and Wires. Center Force Dual Friction Clutch, cross drilled and slotted rotors, BMR subframe connectors, 160 thermostat and Hypertech Power Programmer. I dont really want to sell it, I will look at the right trade or I guess I would sell it for the right money. I had always wanted a T-56 car, but I guess there is no use in owning one if you can't drive it everytime your leg hurts. I will try to get more pictures if anyone is seriously interested. I know on a good day for me I'll regret ever doing this, but everytime I have pain I'll be thankfull I did. This really sucks.

Good luck! I know what your saying whats the point of having the car if you cant enjoy it? Looks like a very nice and clean car, I hope someone has the right trade for ya!

Thanks Darren, sounds dumb I know, but even posting this to gauge interest was a difficult thing to do. I really love this car, but I need something I can enjoy every sunny day, not just when my body say's I can. That's what made me sell my Mustang. We had 4 days in a row just like this and it never left the garage because I was afraid I'd go out and my leg would quit working and leave me stranded.

Nerve pain can be fixed or made to be more tolerable. Keep the car and go see a good massage therapist. Seriously. Fix the pain...keep the car!

Unfortunately there is nothing they can do for me. I went to U of M Hospital over the winter and they said they were sorry but I'm stuck with it. Not to get to personal and I don't want sympathy because I'm not that kind of guy but I have a 5 level fusion with lots of scar tissue and a herniated partially herniated disc above the fusion. Long term progress is not deemed as good. I would love to keep the car and if no one is interested I will keep it. In the long run though I know I will have to move back to an automatic and eventually out of F-bodies and into something easier to get in and out of.

Why get rid of the car??? Couldn't you clutch it with a cane??? Maybe transform it to were you could hand clutch it As for getting in and out of it back in the 80's some make and model cars came with swivel seats in them!8-O Sorry just putting myself in your shoes...My dad has weak knees and one bad ankle but he got prescribed oxycodene so pretty much he's covered...btw what would you sell it for if someone wanted to buy it?

This flat out sucks Lance, but i understand where your coming from. Ive seen this car in person and it's very sweet, any buyer will be very happy with the purchase. Lance keeps his cars in the best of condition!!!

Thanks Adam. I had to take pain pills before the cruise last night . I really love this car and you know it. I would love to keep it, but I don't want something I can't drive when I want to .

i know what your talkin about, i have a torn disck but still drive a semi, cant take the time off from work so i take vicoden in the morning so i can take the pain away long enough to drive for 12 hrs.

Sounds like you should do an upgrade to one of those High output 4L60E's. I know I know that sounds weird, but if you wanted to do it, you could do the swap to an auto while keeping the clutch pedals and putting a shift boot on an auto shifter and no on would know the difference. There are a gazillion 4L60E's out there for cheap. It is an idea so you could keep the car.
