Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!

is it just the head gasket that needs replacing?
is the block or heads cracked?
is it really just a head gasket that needs replacing for it to be a reliable, fully running machine?
what is required of changing out the headgasket on this motor? im assuming its fairly easy, but dont sugar coat it, im not afraid if its going to be a pain in my ass.
i need a winter beater and this car is more than perfect so i have your money if this is what it seems. let me know.
the head and block isnt cracked, It just goes through coolent pritty bad and sparkplugs.. I have changed the spark plugs once, and ran ok for a day or so.. The head gasket needs replace ASAP, to change the head gasket, you will need a head gasket, and basicly a top end gasket kit, witch includes the intake, and valve cover, exhaust manifold, The main thing you want to check when you do the head gasket replacement is the timing chain, make sure thats not to much slack, and the chain might need replacing, i normaly replace the chain when i do head gaskets on the 2.2L and take the head to get checked for crakes, I normaly dont have a problem with the heads. Just have to be carefull when removing it.. And get a service book when you are doing this.. Specialy if your new on doing a head gasket on any engine, But its pritty easy on these, the quad four is a pain in the but, thats the other engine that comes in these sunfires and cav...
- head bolt kit P# ES72172 $ 24.99
- head gasket kit P# HS9469PT-2 $ 56.99
- timing set ( just in case ) P# C-3019 $ 33.99
- timing gasket P# $ TCS45762 $ 10.99
THESE ARE ALL FROM AUTO ZONE..

What do you mean by that? All 2.2 and 2.4 are considered quad four I thought.
I love my 2.4 Z24. I looks like my tranny and clutch are failing job one, but besides that I really enjoy my car. This is a good deal. Looks like for under 400 bucks someone has a fairly decent car.
2.4 Quad 4 is a double overhead cam engine. TOTALLY different than the regular 2.2 4 banger.

yeah the quad four is in a lot of the older grand ams and things. its actually called the quad four, named by GM.
as for the car, that seems like its a nice project but it would be a cool learning experience and a nice dd. im going to talk it over with my dad who will be helping me tackle the repair more than likely, so ill have a verdict for you tomorrow, and hopefully some money.
and as for his honesty, i trust him and especially like him after seeing his overall well received personality here at the site. itll be a pleasure to hopefully do business.
the only issues i have now are how im going to get it all the way back home up here, and where to work on it. we just bought a brand new house so space is limited at the moment.
well, bad news. my dad just bought himself a DD for the winter last week and he doesnt want to borrow me the money. unfortunately cause of the ol T/A, i cant afford to drop $200 by myself right now...i just took a long ass trip down to st. joseph and i have another one in detroit this saturday for work . if anything changes soon enough, i'll let you know, but otherwise, good luck! sorry if i kept your hopes up.
