  • Nice Firehawk

Someone's going to get a very clean Firehawk.......the selling price right now isn't bad considering how clean, and how rare this car is.

          Hmmm...very nice indeed...

But weren't the chrome wheels not offered until '96?

You know Jeff, I was thinking the same thing. In fact, I wasn't even aware that style Firehawk wheel was ever available in chrome. I ran the cars RPO's and it should have the standard aluminum version, so somebody upgraded the wheels at some point.

I think (could be wrong) that chrome Speedlines were only available in 96-97...and I haven't seen many of them...rare option if it's right...

I looked it up in the dealer books I have, the chrome Speedline wheels were available in '95. I found a bulletin for '96 stating that PO5 (chrome wheels) were not going to be available.

I've seen those Firehawks on the road before, but what exactly is that? Is it a special performance/appearance package? Here's one I saw last year:

Found this on the Firehawk registry, FWIW:

SLP orignal offered chrome Speedline wheels as a option 1995, but never delivered any. SLP moved to American Racing Equipment rims in 1996 and started delivering the chrome option.

Yep, pretty much...in the later years they got a 10 hp bump over a standard WS6 T/A through a different intake, and there were a few unique options that SLP would install on them not available to T/As or Formulas (i.e. Auburn rear differential, Bilstein suspension)...but if you were very, very savvy (and had deep pockets), in the first years (91-92) you could have ordered an aluminum 383 that was rated at 375 hp...

But I believe only 3 people were so savvy with deep pockets...

Well that kinda makes sense, when I was looking thru my info and saw the chrome Speedline I couldn't recall ever seeing that wheel on a Firehawk (of course though, I haven't seen them all). The chrome wheel in '96 must've been a mid-year/late production item based on this note they weren't intially available..............
