Hey Guys,
I got some very bad news yesterday. My dad, who has been in the hospital for the last couple weeks, was under sedation and was supposed to wake up Wednesday or Thursday. However, he never did. Now, the doctors (4 specialists) have informed my family that his kidneys and liver aren't functioning properly. They gave him at max, 10% chance of survival.
He had surgery about three weeks ago for prostate cancer, and they removed the prostate completely, and the report said it hadn't spread anywhere. Then a week later he went back to the hospital complaining of feeling dizzy sometimes while he recovering at home (he seemed completely fine at this point, other than the whole just having surgery thing). They, at first, thought he was just dehydrated from not drinking enough water, then saw he had low blood pressure. They gave him a CT scan and noticed blood clots in the lungs and one big one in the heart. They sedated him and gave him blood thinners to try and dissolve the clots. It worked on the heart, but the lung clots broke apart and spread to all the small little areas of the lungs, which caused blood pressure to drop real low. That monday he was on life support and had emergency surgery to be put on the ecmo machine to oxygenate his blood outside the body, and also on dialysis for his kidneys. Beaumont was one of the few hospitals in the country with that ecmo machine and staff to use it, and things only progressed from there, it seemed like he'd be perfectly fine...but then yesterday happened.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We need a miracle. Today might be a big decision for my family. Thank you for all your support and words of encouragement. I will update as soon as I get any information.
Thank you so much.
